I´m stuck in the beginning

Hey, I have a strange problem. I have reached route kanal, but when I jump into the wagon with the red-eyed dude and the bluedressed human, nothing happens. I´ve heard they are supposed to talk to me but they dont! I have pressed e all over the and its driving me mad. And yes it is a real copy of the game, used my free ati coupon and downloaded it.

Hmm, this is odd... try restarting this part, load from your last save.

validate your steam files and restart the level, if that doesn't work it's either a problem with your computer or a hacked copy:)

edit: should have said to restart the level you need to start a "new game" from the start menu

Okey, I used the link and it validated my files. Do I need to go all the way from the start of the game? Because I tried starting a new game from route canal and it still doesnt work.

Maybe you have the demo and the other part doesn't exist. :P

i also encountered a problem like this, howeve ri have some more details it happened to me in the canals right before where you get to ride the cool motorbike on pontoons

if i died while engaging the enemy, and didnt either load a save game of my own, or restart from the beginning of the canals then no opponents would attack and no NPCs would interact mine is a DVD of the collectors edition so its not limited to the Ati download copy or Dodgy hacks, im not sure what causes it, i validated the steam files as well.
and i can come to one conclussion, to avoid this on my system

is never die

Hmm... strange. try quick save and then quick load it... lets see if that will solve it. Anyway, been playing HL2 for 20 times now... and I never encountered that kind of problem.
