I'm currently writing a book, and I was wondering if there was anyone willing to volunteer and design a cover for it? Unfortunately, I don't have any money, but if anyone has some free time, would you mind helping?

If you're intrested, just reply and I'll give you a description of what I'm looking for.

(Also, I'm not looking for anything specific, just something relevant to the book that has the title and my name.)

if your wanting something good enough for a book, your gonna have to pay for it, not ask for freebies.

disagreed, some people have major skill with photoshop, its all about finding someone willing to make it.

so you honestly think someone with real talent is gonna work for free on a book? Taking their time out from paid work to work for free on something that might never happen anyway?

Actually looking at it, your disagreeing with well, i don't know what your disagreeing with, you pretty much went on to agree hehe, well its still early in the UK (yes 12pm is early lol)

dark elf, not everyone works for money. why should you demand money on something you simply love doing????

besides you get a decent reputation when you do stuff for free. people want you more and keep asking for you, and then THATS when you can start asking for money, and they wont think twice about giving it to you.

hehe its kinda sneeky but its how i get through my part time work and school...people are so easy to manipulate when you are nice :E

Everyone who wants to survive in this day and age works for money, I've yet to meet a successful artist who never charges for his or her work. And all pro's will stand by me on this. You work, you expect to be paid, you don't drop a well paid job to do an unpaid one when you've got bills to pay and a family to feed.

No you don't, oh boy you don't. You get a reputation as being easy, and then when you DO need to be paid, people don't want to know, cause why should they, since you were doing it for free so much. Not to mention the fact you piss off the people who need to be paid for the above reason, cause your taking business away from them when they could be making a living from it.

Well for your sake I hope you stop doing it, cause right now your only getting away with getting money the odd times cause I imagine your being paid peanuts. If you begin a pro your talking thousands for just small jobs, I can't see someone wanting to pay you that when a few months before they'd have got the work from you for free. Do you see my point? You work for free you get a reputation for sure, but it ain't one you want, believe me.

I don't need a professional to make the cover, just someone with a little bit of experience. There are plenty of people out there who work for free just for fun/experience, not survival.

If you had posted a description of what you were looking for, you probably would've had about 10 images by now.

You can msn me on that too. (you could click on the username to find the email :P)
I wouldn't mind doing anything except you can't expect it to be perfect, and it also depends on what you want. And it depends on the fact you dont mind it being done in the time span of 6 months . No, I would be able to do it in less, but Im nearing my GCSEs, so I should focus on them

It usually takes more than Photoshop to design a good book cover. It's okay for manipulating photos, but that's pretty standard. If it's getting professionally printed, you'd want to do it in Quark or InDesign, regardless of what you use to do the actual cover art.

You might get lucky with a free cover, but you typically get what you pay for. I charge, but I'd be more likely to design the whole book for you than just a cover.

Search through his posts, it might tell you

But I believe this topic has no further purpose?

why did he get banned?

well, he recently posted in threads such as 'My parents think I'm on drugs' and 'suicide', and his last ever post was:

I hate ****ers like you. Immoral bastard.

hmm.. :|

Before that, he had 8 warning points for spamming. But while what he said was a little harsh and obscene, it was relevant and not close to as bad as other posts which people get away with. I wouldn't suggest locking the thread, he's only temp. banned.

BTW, he gave me his email address in case you want to email him. tantalization@gmail.com

If you're seriously writing a book, you can keep dreaming to get to choose your own cover. Your publisher chooses that.
