View Full Version : Anyone going to E3 this year?

I went last year and had a blast. I just got a letter in the mail last week reminding me to sign up again. Im definitely going again this year if time permits.

The highlight of the show last year, for me, was being able to see HL2 in action and meeting Gabe Newell. He signed a promotional HL2 sheet for me.

Im hopping that Microsoft, Nintendo, and Sony will show off the next gen consoles.

So, anyone else going?!

Depends. Last E3, my sister got a pass and didn't even invite me. She damn well knew I wanted to go. :(

It's my life long dream to go to E3. Unfortunately, I never plan ahead and live too far away to drive so probably no.

I would love to go to E3 this year. It is going to be fantastic with all 3 console makers hopefully showing of their consoles. Money isnt a problem for me its the fact that Im not old enough to rent a hotel room.

Sony is going to show PS3 at this year E3 for sure, MS as well. Not sure about Nintendo though.

I would really like to go on E3 this year if I could, but I live in Sweden and don’t you need to be at least 18 years old to even get in there?

Every year I tell myself I'm going to E3... and then funds, laziness and internet footage conspire against me. Mind you, I can't really think of any particular thing I want to see this time round.

Los Angeles.

Thanks. No way I would go then. I'm not going to drive for 30 hours just for e3.

I think I should remind everyone that it is a trade show, not open to the public, so you cannot just pay for a pass. :)

With that said... munnnnehhhhhhhh.........!

Microsoft will DEFINITELY be showing off Xbox 2, hell they might even pull off a major coup and release it by the end of the year.

Sony will probably unleash Playstation 3 as well, not so sure what Nintendo's gonna do.

Any way you slice it, it is gonna be an AWESOME E3.

I would gladly go; if only I was 18, that is.
I hope they'll change the rules so that 14 year olds/ 15 year olds (I'm going to turn 15 this year but I'm not sure when E3 starts) may go.
If I can't go, then I'll just get some internet coverage.

does having a blog count as press? and when is it?

It is actually quite easy to get into trade-fairs like this. Just pose as a freelance journalist. Have a couple of articles ready in case they want to check (so a blog comes in handy). Just bluff your way in.

But being 14 doesn't really help ...

I live about 30 minutes(without traffic) from the Los Angeles Convention Center where e3 is held. Unfortunatley I know no one who has a pass or works in the industry to be able to go. And I'm too lazy/its not important enough for me to create a blog to fake my way in.

They are saying that because they cant afford it, not old enough for a hotel room and their parents wouldnt let them. It not that hard to get into E3 though if you got the connection.

Yup got the official invite in the mail last week inviting me to the industry-only portion (different work shops and such, and get early access to things, etc etc....) and they were nice enough to cut 75 bucks off, but nah I'm not going though, anyone wanna bid on my registration code to get a few bucks off? Just show me you are in the industry lol

j/k BTW, it's already thrown away as I knew I couldn't go this year anyways... *sigh* it would have been awesome.....

I'm having my own E3 in my house, called M3, Murray's Mum's Magnificancies

I will take people on a tour of my house, showing them cakes and other things my mum has baked. Then I will show them my garden and sign pictures of the house and my dog. I don't think many people will turn up.

You have to be a member of my family to get into M3.

Bye.

Ahh.. the only reason to work for EB. I would apply for my local gamestore, only problem is the part where I have to work for that god forsaken place.

I could imagine myself being bombarded with questions about release dates, when the sign is clearly posted right behind me.

I got a fileplanet account last year so I could get the live video feeds and all the other exlusive stuff from e3 so I hope they do that again this year. I always watch the microsoft press breifing that is about an hour long and I look forward to that again this year. Im sure there will be press conferances for all 3 next gen consoles during e3 so I guess I will be watching videos from sony, nintendo and microsoft. I am looking forward to nintendos this year because I think they might just be able to slip one buy microsoft and sony this generation. There are rumors that nintendo might be releasing mario, zelda and star fox games as launch titles. Im am really interested in what nintendo has for a controller this time, I heard it might be a touch screen like the DS. Nintendo has been the most influential company as far as control designs go so if anyone knows what they are doing it would be them. But Im sure microsoft and sony are working hard also. I cant wait to see whats in store for the online capabilities of all three consoles.

Unless you have a pass, this is what you'll need to get onto the floor.

Yeah but siedwinder what if you bluff you're from the press.

Oh and damn why doesn it cost so much, I mean don't the companies that show their games there pay for their place. Besides isn't it like they are making ads for their game, so why should you pay to see ads. I mean why doesn't the press just say FU, you want coverage, you want to promote you're stuff then make a deal with the hosts to let us in free.
