I've called all the stores around my area, and can't find WoW for sale.
(this includes, walmart, toysrus, circuit city,EB,Bestby, target,FYE,and radioshack)
Will someone please tell me where i can find this game? All of my friends have it, and i would love to play online w/ them, and i dont feel like waiting 1-2 weeks to order one off the net.
i hopes the stores get restocked now.
im very pissssssed

That's kind of odd. I just went to the store myself to see if it was there and it was missing. It was a rather large Hastings, which has every other big and small titles too.

They stopped selling them because their servers are being overloaded. I forget when they start up again.
It's like the PS2 release all over again.

So does this mean you can't even order it off the internet currently?

No idea. I just know it's not in stores because they stopped distribution for now.

Hmm, Blizzard should really take the large "In Stores Now" messsage off their homepage.

I highly doubt this.

Well, I just checked every game store in my town and nobody has it either so obviously something is going on.
Edit:
I think I found the relevant news item on their site:
Over this holiday season, demand for World of Warcraft was so great that retailers estimate that nearly all remaining supplies of the game sold out across North America, Australia, and New Zealand. To accommodate the increasing number of players eager to join World of Warcraft, Blizzard will be bringing several new servers online. After a short and successful testing period to ensure server stability, the company also plans to release additional units to retail outlets nationwide.

Looks like they just stopped distribution 'till they can catch up with the increasing fanbase.

They're creating a shortage purposefully!

They aren't sending out new retail boxes to stores until they can expand their capacity. However, some online vendors still have copies lying around, but it's tough to find one. More units will ship to stores once they add more servers and lighten the load on currently overpopulated ones.

They sold 600,000 copies and now they are printing more. This is not some grand conspiracy, they just ran out.
The best part is when you all get the game I'll be level 40 and you'll be level retarded. Hah.

Nah, just pesky real life stuff has kept me busy.

Well, seems I've hit a snag. The installation process hangs on the first disc every time I try to install it. Been reading over at the blizzard site and apparently this is a common problem with no real solution...sigh. I'm just hoping I don't have to send it back...
But I'll let ya know if I ever get the dang thing installed.

damn that sucks ...it's a long install and registration process. Took me almost 2 hours to install, register and update patches. Good luck and enjoy WoW ...i cant stop playing every spare minute I get

For a moment there I thought you were referring to the store being missing.
That would've been almost as shocking.

How big is WoW in terms of size?
CptStern
14-01-2005, 12:11 AM
? installation size? or available land in-game?
if it's land let me put it this way...every time I play start in my home city of darnassus and to get to the action I gotta run for a good 2 minutes to the city teleporter ..arrive at the nearby docks ..run some more to get to the dragon/bird thingy just so I can then fly for a minute or so to get to the town near where the action is ....once I'm in the city of auberdine ...I have to run for another minute or so to get to some action ...I can run in either direction for at least 7-10 minutes and reach only tip of the border of darkshore (province I guess) and beyond that there's a whole bunch of of other provinces/countries ...which I'm sure take a lot of exploring to do with lottsa running involved :) ...oh did I mention there's also another continent?
