View Full Version : Occasional Fullbright on all maps

I was just playing some HL2DM on servers which hostet custom maps, so I wasn't surprised when the maps all had this fullbright (no lighting, everything is bright). But when it changed to lockdown I still had this fullbright thing. Attached are some screenshots as proof. However, this doesn't happen everytime, when I restartet HL2 it was gone...
Anybody know what this could be? It looks ugly like that, and I don't like having an unfair advantage... Furthermore I don't want to be banned or something when VAC comes out...

Yeh, that does look like crap! :P

I think if you put "mat_fullbright 0" in the autoexec.cfg or in the command line for the shortcut it'll get rid of it. If it still happens, type the command in during the game and it'll change it for you.

Ok I'll try that. But I can't believe this can be activated so easy, because I would consider this cheating as people can't hide anymore and you can see everything much easier...

That happened to me once in lockdown as well. Dunno what caused it, but I restarted the game and it was fine again.

Let this be a lesson to mapmakers though: Fullbright is bad! Bad!

Man, those screen-shots really are a testament to how important lighting is to maps. I think the lockdown map looks awesome, but seeing it like that...it's utter shit. And just because of lighting!

i have had it happen to me a few times also, but the command to change it requires sv_cheats to be on, so most servers wont let you do it :(
