Yeah, I dont know if it was made clear or not, but a lot of the stuff shown in the trailers, i didnt do. For example: some of the gameplay when fighting stryders, and running from civil protection in the buildings, i never experienced. But those I can believe may have been created by the makers simply for showing gameplay without ruining the actual game. But, BUT, the most dissapointing thing was the abscence of that water creature.

Where would one get more footage of the Hydra than the end of that Bink video where it spears the combine soldier?

How many times does this have to be brought up...

I think a stickie is needed for these people.

Use the search feature and type in "hydra" and you'll have a PLETHORA of posts about the hydra. I dunno if I'd call those videos that kept getting released "trailers". I think there was just so much of a demand from the fans (us) that they released progress videos every now and then to show it. To say they were "trailers" implies that they were of a finished product, which I don't think was ever said or implied by Valve. That would be like a movie studio releasing a preview for their movie with unedited footage before they're even finished filming.

I think the main point of the videos was to show off the engine and give you a rough idea of what the game MIGHT be like. Nothing more.

they cut the hydra because whilst it looked good attacking others, when it attacked the player it looked rubbish. It was impractical, although it looked cool.

Half-Life 2: The Tech Demo (What you saw)

Is different from

Half-Life 2 (What you are playing)

Use the search functionality..did we really need another thread about what was cut form the game??

What on earth are you talking about?

The level was removed because it didn't fit in with the storyline, and the hacker had nothing to do with the delay.

The level wasnt removed because of the storyline, yes, originally it was, but further along in the project valve decided that it would be far better to have you arrive via train and not the Borealis icebreaker.

And no, it wasnt the hackers fault this level was cut...but it certainly was his fault the game was delayed.

Didn't Gabe admit the delay was bascially shitty planning with a layer of to much ambition (from the behind the scences article over at gamespy or whoever)?

And awhile after the hacker incident he commented on how the hacking didn't have much todo with the delay?

Well After I Saw All The Trailers At The Official Site I Already Pretty Much Knew That These Levels Were (Like Some Of You've Said) Been Cut Out Because They Didn't Tie In With The Storyline.
However They Were Also Made To Demonstrate The Game's Remarkable Game Engine And Action To Show What The Game Has To Offer.
Of Course Other Reasons Were Also Present (Like Some Said About The Hydra).
