View Full Version : steam signup trouble "error message"??

ok i have hl2 for 3 days now and cannot play the it.
for some reason i have to connect to steam (i didnot need to for hl1)
affter filling out the info and answering some questions like whats my mothers maiden name.

it says steam working.. creating account

meanwhile i am connected to internet browsing the net reading sending emails.

i come back to it after a few minutes and it says:
"steam-create account failed

SteamProcessCall(CreateAccount)(Oxab0003,0x17cfc04,0x17cfd0c) failed with error 200: Failed to connect, winsock error 10061 "connection refused""

i tried several times having to reenter data.

and still same error.

help whats going on

i had xfire but unistalled it

as recommended by someone

and i am on aol

Upgrade to the newest version of AOL.

my last attemp it took days to download.

Can't you get it on a CD?

Goethe had the same problem connecting to steam and that's what solved it for him.

you see the cds every where all the time.
you get sick of them.
you use them as costers
then when you really need one you cannot find one.

it turned out the update to aol 9.0 fixed the problem.

I told you! It's a very simple fix to that problem. I wonder why it has taken Valve so long to address that issue. To this day they have yet to say something about it.
