Becuz its a higher setting which your hardware proberly doesn't support...its logic

I got a 6600GT for vidcard. I would think something that supports 3.0 pixel shaders could render whatever 6xAA is, but I dunno. You're probably right.

It could also be your Ram...the game uses your ram...the higher settings you use, the higher ram will be used, and if you don't have enough ram vs. to the settings you have, the ram will be maxed out and the game will lag. at least i think thats right..hehe

Your ram size has nothing to do with how much AA you use.

Nvidia does not support 6xAA.

6600 gt can do 6x aa. its a software glitch, try updateing drivers.

Nope it is basically your Hardware. A 6600 GT should get 6xAA, though Valve doesn't support Nvidia as much as ATi, and since Source is heavy on processors, you might wanna look at that too.

Source is not defaultly high on RAM, it can be if you change the Heapsize to a different amount.

Actually your VRAM matters. Cards with only 64 MB can't do 6x, but cards with 256 can do 8x, maybe even 10x

I can't remember if it's supported, but if Geforce cards can do temporal AA, it might be because that's on when 4x is selected and not 6x...

Its ATi cards that support Temporal AA, NVidia cards do not.
Also, NVidia cards DO NOT support 6xAA. Heres a list of what AA cards support:
ATI cards: 2x, 4x, 6x
NVidia cards: 2x, 4x, 8x
If you want to use 6x or 8x on your respective card, you need to have at least 128mb VRAM (IIRC).
