Is there an editor to make maps for HL2? and if so where can I get it!

the Source SDK(software development kit) comes with HL2.(but needs to be downloaded via steam..)

Yeah just double-click Source SDK in the Steam Games window after you have PURCHASED Half-Life 2, and choose to install and run.
