Help! Failed To Load Launcher DLL.

Can anyone please Help, HL2 was working fine until i download Deathmatch, Played it that day, Next day tryed to play HL2 and after the Steam perparing to play HL2, I get Launcher error saying Failed to load launcher DLL, The specifed procedure could not be found,
Does anyone know how to fix please.

If no one can Help can someone tell me what files 2 backup for my saved game's so i can uninstall and reinstall the game thanks.

Just make a copy of the files in your save folder to back your saves up:

C:\Program Files\Valve\Steam\SteamApps\[your username]\half-life 2\hl2\SAVE

I have exactly the same problem. I've tried unistalling and reinstalling but alas to no avail :(

I'm getting sick of this game, it gives the memory error if I try to play the game at 1024 x 768 at 85Hz but it will play for a few hours in 1024 x 768 at 75Hz ????? I have the stuttering sound problem too. I could live with those in the short term but now the damn thing will not load at all since installing Half Life 2 : Deathmatch Grrrrrrrrr ........... :flame:

I'm in the same boat as you Stormcbr, i am starting to get really pissed at valve. I could cope with the odd memory read error in DM (i managed to get rid of them in single player), but then I go to fire up single player and it won't frickin' load, getting the same "Failed to load launcher DLL" error.

Releasing a patch that I have to install that makes me unable to play the game is seriously not on. Valve need to sort this out pronto :angry:

What worked for me was copying all the files from /half-life2/bin/ to /half-life2/. Hope that helps anyone.
