How big is it? I havent got hl2 yet so I cant tell, I was only guessing that its huge

It's only 30mb.. I've seen game patches that were bigger than that.. (Heh, the original Half-Life comes to mind :D)

No offense, but if you're on 56k do you really think you'd have a good DM experience anyway? It sounds like people with Cable connections are getting lag. I'd hate to imagine 56k.

Yep I have ISDN and when playing at 64k on 20 people server ping is 300 and laggy as hell and when 128k its still laggy. But luckily I'm changing to 1mb/512 connection, it cost like 5 euros more than isdn.
So you need to give out hope for you playing with 56k.

is it laggy to all servers or just ones that are distant from you?

Well Im assuming that the deathmatch is in its early stages at the moment and it will become much less laggy. But then I realise my halo online experience= hell. May as well wait until im at uni with my broadband

To bad most university's have a habit of blocking the ports that steam needs to connect.
