plz help

i ust got hl2 yesterday, and it was working prefectly. but now 2day wenever i play. it comes up with "node out of date" and then none of the other characters move or fight bak. the whole level is there but nothing else works. like i can move and shoot, i can use the buggy and hover craft, but notin else is alive, can some1 plz tell me wot is wrong

There are a couple of things to try.

Go to options-->keyboard-->advanced and make sure "enable developer console" is ticked. Press the key to the top left of your keyboard, next to 1. Type in:

ai_disable 0

That's one thing. Another thing is to reload the map. Type in:

map "map code"

When I say "map code" I mean the code to the very top right of the screen when you hit escape to look at the options during a game. Might say "d1_trainstation_02" or something similar, and that would be "map d1_trainstation_02" you'd type.
