i have heard that you need a DVD-rom drive to install HL2, i couldnt find any info on any websites, and was wondering if i needed one. also i have a very minimal computer, will this run HL2 on atleast the lowest settings? Intel 1.8GHZ, 512 MB Ram, and a Radeon 9100 128 MB PCI (yeah i know its PCI but its my dads Dell, and my friend can run HL2 on his PCI machine)

if you buy the DVD version of it you do.
just get the PC-CDROM one, or order off Steam.

Depends where you are, some countries like the UK only have a DVD version at retail and no CD version.
You could download it from Steam if you are in the UK, you have broadband and don't have a DVD drive but know someone with a credit card.
If you can't do that, and are in a country with DVD only, then DVD drives are pretty cheap these days and are easy to install.
