Heat issues

take the covers off and stick a big fan in front of it

if its ok after that
then u need to upgrade either your case fans and or your graphic fan!

Pingu u have a nvidia card. Since u have a invidia card it's probably one of the older ones like Geforce 4 ti4400 or somthing mx or something.. anyway since u have these cards the new nvidia drivers will mess up the game and cause it to restart. Best to delete the new drivers and install the old ones... 61.76

I have an ATI 9800 Pro, I've sorted the restarting, now CS:S just freezes, NOTHING else on my computer does this.

Have you tried forcing a lower level of DirectX? This should'nt be neccesary on your card, but still worth a shot.

Just run with -dxlevel 7 (or 8)
