I am at this point and I can seem to make it across this jump. What do i do? ANyone?

I don't remember exactly how to get the airboat back there, but you want to get the airboat under the peir basically straight ahead as far as you can go in that image you provided. You basically get the airboat under the peir and based on the image you work your way around to the left and underneath the combine cars. There is an exit over there somewhere. Sorry but that was a while back for me and I don't remember all that well.

behind the huge brownish boat in front of you theres a tipped over red cargo hold crate thingy, get behind it (you have to be on foot) the opening to it is in the back, inside there is an explosive barrel, blow that up and then it will blow open the outside of the crate, you can now drive your airboat into the tunnel via the cargo crate.

Actually thats exactly how I did it- I just hadn't noticed the cargo container from the front only when I was walking round trying to find how in gods name I was going to continue! I just assumed you could ignite the barrel from the front but that I was too much of a divy to notice before I wandered round for 15mins looking!
