View Full Version : Half life 2 says "No disk Inserted"
I installed the game just fine, everything works, I was properly authenticated through steam, but now whenever I try to play half life source, half life 2, or counterstrike source I get the error, "No Disk Inserted"
Does anyone have the same problem
by the way Im running the collectors edition dvd
And I am sure you have the DVD in the drive, right? Otherwise, that would be silly(especially with an extremely obvious error message :))
Well of course, it keeps giving me the same error, and when I put the disk in it gives me some message about DLA, but it installed fine and steam updated fine, it says Im at 100 % and offline ready

i had the same problem but i fixed it. all u have to do is go to properties under the dvd drive u put the dvd in. then go to the DLA tab and uncheck the Enable DLA on your drives. then u shoudlnt have a problem playing the game after that.
so the game is ment to be played WITH the disk? all the other steam games dont require that...hmm
Great, I no longer get the error, but now when I try to boot up a game I just hear the dvd spinning in the drive, see the busy sign on the mouse for a few seconds, and then nothing....
This is just slightly frustrating

same here, all i see is a black screen for 5-10 minutes... then the background of the game (Half life 2 or CS source) for about 20 minutes.. nothing happens. Anyone got past this point? heh

I got this error too and "un-enabled" the DLA function on the DVD drive. That seemed to work because I got into the game fine last night. I haven't tried it today though. Thanks for the hint!
