Downloading / Activation Problems. Please help!

Hey Everybody!

I've got a problem:

I got an ATi coupon for HL2 with my videocard, so a few days before release I registered it, preloaded HL2 (It said 100% preload complete) and could play CS:S several times without any problems , but when the release day came I had to unlock both games. I ALWAYS get the "The Steam servers are currently to busy to handle you request. Please try again in a few minutes" error. Then I also looked at the properties window from HL2, it said 49% complete and 838 mb!! but everytime I click half life 2 it tries to unlock both games, I get the same error again. Is it just that the servers are busy? Still? Now I cant play CS:S and cant download HL2 completely... Can anyone help me out?

i havn't been able to connect so far...ever. i was trying everyday at different times throughout the day for a week until the release. now i get the same problem, it just says try in a few minutes...not hours. someone told me to try and set up a macro, which i found a bit of freeware that you can set to do things and delay stuff. anyways, thats been on over night and most of today, but still...nothing. i wouldnt be surprised if us voucher people are on a server with about 5 slots max.

dont get so angry. yeah, its annoying but its not as if HL2 is your life...well i hope its not. you cant do anything besides keep trying and hopefully ( before 5 weeks ) we'll get to download it. i was thinking...i might even be able to get it off a mate if he backs up his .gcf files

hehe I'm not that angry, it's just that I expected I could play... I can wait:) :P maybe that method would work, since you've got a valid key, but then the problem will still be the same, you can't activate...right? you've got all the files but It has'nt been activated yet.....

It's also kind of stupid that I could play CS:S before without activating, and now I need to activate it... ah well, we'll see.
