Buying Half Life 2

When you buy Half Life 2 do you get a CD Key with it that you can put into Steam. The reason I ask is that I have neither a credit card or a DVD drive in my PC but would quite like Half Life 2. I was wondering if I bought the game in a shop and put the CD key into steam it would then let me download it.

umm im not sure, it comes with a cd key yeh, but whenever I want too play it says please insert CD , this maybe from the files i installed from the disc, buy the game, go into steam, and go to register i product i already own, enter the key, if it doesnt let you download it, take it back saying it doesnt work or something
