stuck with the waterboat

First time you get the waterboat, into the level waterways (or something like that) you have a V-formed jump, and next to it is a tunnel, which leads u above the jump....

How do I get my boat to the other side? the jump needs to be altered somehow...

Put the Blue Barrels under the ramp. At least, I think that's the area you're at.
