Scandinavion HL2 site.

First of all, I hope you guys @ HL2.net take no offence about this thread.

I would like to open a Scandinavian (Swedish, Dansih and Norwigein sections..) HL2 site, but since I'm not that good at webdesign and coding I'd like some help, so this is what i'm looking for.

-phpcoder (fix us scripts, and make 'em work).
-webdesigner.
-staff.
-a host that can provide us with php and mysql.

You do not need to be scandinavion if you wan't to, code, design and host.

You mean like section for every language? So kinda like 3 sites in one? I hope Swedish will be the main language on the site :)

I can write some news and things for it times to times. I got my hands full with both my mod (Malin) and the new .Dev site (which will be a sistersite to Halflife2.net)

I quite curious about HL2 and most of all its MP. When HL2 is release i could try to post some finnish/scandinavian MP news ?
That site could too work as an ground for an scandinavian leagues for HL2 ?

Curious question: Would the page be able to host mods? That'll help draw some attention to it (and everything that does is a good thing :)). All I need is a good little forum. My darn freebie forum has crappy pop ups, people with ad blockers can apparently not even get into it.

I think its too many sites that host mods right now. Every HL2 site is hunting mods to host just to be bigger....so ill say: Skip the hosting :)

I have some questions, sephim.

There are already two swedish Half-Life/Half-Life 2 sites:

Halflife.nu (http://www.halflife.nu) - the oldest and biggest, getting upgraded soon
Half-Life2.nu (http://www.half-life2.nu) - very new and a part of the Nordicgamers.com network

Gamingeye.com will soon launch their Half-Life 2 section, and then there will be three swedish Half-Life 2 sites. So, I was wondering, what's the benefit with having another one? The swedish community is small, so my opinion is that we should try and keep it together, not spread it out all over the place.

I'm in. As long as you don't use any premade php-portal. I can code some php and do some other stuff maybe. But writing a whole site from scratch will take like 1 month minimum probably. But there's plenty of time since HL2 will come out in minimum a month. :)

A new site probably won't get so many users but those site you pointed are not so nice. halflife.nu don't seems to be serious at all, at least that's the expression i get from the site. half-life2.nu is a part of the nordicgamers.. what else do i need to say? :) It probably will be full of 12 year old cs-players like all the other nordic sites.

Anyhow I can assure that Halflife.nu is very serious, not only because me myself is working on it... The site have actually been running close to four years and right now it has the best swedish Half-Life 2 coverage there is (preview, FAQ, daily news, active forum and so on).

Yes, indeed, but what we also need is a person who could do those site pages too. I know its a really hard to do ones and it takes time, but we have atleast 1month time :)

What we would need right now is:
Danish and Norwiegen admins
You have to recruit new writers and such.. Take care of the staff.

Finish, Danish, Norwigen and Swedish C/O admin
You have to be able to backup the "head" admins.

Writers
Who can write info about the game, news, articels etc. on admins demands.

PHP-coder
Have to fix all our php-stuff on admin demands.

Anyways, I think your demands are more than you can cope with at this moment.
Let's go through this a step at a time, and not just involve people who just sit there waiting for you to give them a kick start....

Okey, her's the deal, [pioneer]'s done with the design and it's awsome, though I have decided, how wierd it sounds.. Start off with only a Swedish & Danish section for the moment. 'Couse I don't see many Norwigen and Finish gamers exept [pioneer] and ExE.
But we'll get a norweigen and finish section when the site grow's bigger.
What we'r looking for now is
PHP Coder
Who can jsut install som scripts on the server

Danish admin
Who can administrate the danish section and can fill me up with info about the danish gamers.

Danish writers
One or two who can translate some info about the game (in swedish) and post news/articels.

I do only have one 2 demands, you'r language has to be 90% and you have to have MSN MESSENGER.

nah, just joking, I speak some swedish but I'm spanish. I can't help you :( btw, do you know www.half-life2.nu ? Sometimes I read it just to remember some swedish. Perhaps you didn't know it and that's why you wanted to create a portal on your own.

btw, dawler, in Spain, not 99% of gamers can read English :D and if they can struggle reading some, they're not willing to read and post news/comments in English... so they open Spanish websites because they're very popular since our language is spoken in almost all south america (except brasil) and it's expanding at fast speeds in the US.

Anyway, I prefer global communities, with people from everywhere and I know that If I want everyone to be able to read what I write, I'll have to write it in English hehe.

But with this, I'm not discouraging people to learn Spanish! give it a try, it's a beautiful language :D and it sounds very good. Omg, sorry for offtopic lol
