Well, I've been playing the game for the last 15 hours. I spent like 5 hours on the SP, it's nice - but not mindblowing.

Anyway - for the next 10 hours I've been playing it's mp - and guess what? It's the best multiplayer component ever made. period. Intense, Fun, cool, fun....and did I say fun? ;)

Seriously, it pwns every xbox live game - HECK - every online rpg, mmporg, FPS, etc on ANY platform, including PC. Period, again. Counterstrike, bf 1942, ut2k4 all crumble beneath it.

This is coming from a person who is a big online pc whore.

Mind my over enthusiasm and spelling mistakes, but this game really pumps you up. :D

As a side note, I must say that the vehicle jacking in MP is the best thing ever to happen in video games.

Really? I thought MP was pretty fun, however the single player has been ummm slightly dissapointing, and I'm sorry but the duel weilding and the new weapon balance is shit. The rest is pretty good though.

I personally think the weapon balancing in halo 2 is even better than the first. Like I said, I really wasn't flabbergasted by the SP - but the MP "roxors my boxors" :afro:

How many people can you get on a server? And what special features are there in mp? I havent played Halo2, im just curious

Also, are the servers just other people on their xbox's, or are there now dedicated servers? Can't wait till Halo 2 is out here in the UK

I bet the SP is pretty cool. I say I bet because I keep getting a ****ing error message saying they are having problems reading my disc.

And yes, I have played it. Got it at midnight last night and played a giant xbox lan party with a bunch of friends. Was an absolute blast =] It is, however, too slow of gameplay for me. It feels like playing in water.

Ditto.

But the MP does seem pretty good. Haven't played it live yet, only 1 x 1 with my bro. Tis fun using the dual wielding with 2 plasma rifles.

Just got off Xbox Live after like 3 hours. I wasn't expecting much rush at the midnight release here in Grand Forks, ND...small town and shitty area....but there were like 250 people lined up outside the local Gamestop. I was like the 80th or so. It took me like 1 hour total to get the game.

Anyways - XBL is a blast. I was playing with a guest so I couldn't get into any ranked games. Having just created a new account - I didn't have any friends yet...so we did some quick matches. They just match you up randomly with people around your skill lvl. They set up a random map with a random gametype. They were aweseome. Some were kinda lame actually because some were 4v4's with King of the Hill...and 1 minute won the game. They were obviously short. The maps were more fun than I thought they would be actually.

I don't really like the sword on close quarters maps. You can easily kill people with it and there's very little they can do about it (especially with motion tracker on). You just pop around a corner - R trigger - dead. They can also switch to the sword very quickly if they have a different wep. out. It's too easy to get kills with on certain maps. Other than that...no complaints from me. I had tons of fun.

This is what I was gonna post at 4am Central Time today, but my internet decided to die after I logged off XBL.

I just played today for like 3 more hours or so and had a blast again. There are some whiney bitches online though. One party I was in kept complaining when I'd get the sniper rifle and shotgun and rock out at one of the bases and pick people off. They kept bitching about how I'm so gay...and how sniping is sooo cheap. Then a couple of them would try to charge me and I'd kill them both because they're too dumb and they fumble all over each other and don't have a good approach. Ah well. That was just one party.

In ranked games I've reached lvl 5. I haven't played too many ranked games simply because it chooses gametypes and maps randomly...so I don't get to play what I want all the time or I might get stuck with players that have no idea what they're doing when it comes to assault even after I explain it to them 3-4 times. It's so much fun though. I can't wait 'till my friends get it back home and we make a clan or something.

No thats not it. I'm just a tad sleepy from all the people at my school pimping it like it was the next best thing to sliced bread. I'm not a person to go jumping up and down over the release of HL2 either. Every game is good I know that, so why do people need to keep shoving me mouthfulls of what they think?

I guess PC gamers are just use to a higher quality of gameplay and visuals.

Controls are almost exactly the same as halo 1 only difference is dual wielding, made so they had to make a few tweaks.

Maps should be expected in sequals, if they just had the same maps that would be retarded.

They changed the HUD OH NOES... basically the moved the health bar its still the same style.

Graphics basically are a little better texturing ang a few bumpmaps here and there, you can barely tell the difference from this and Halo 1.(Oh and POp-in is really annoying)

And the rest are just minor tweaks, seems more like an expansion pack than a whole new game, kinda like RCT2.

I haven't notices any "POp-in yet, but you have compiled quite a list of changes you obviously notices, nulling your original statment.

If you haven't experienced any Pop-in yet then you obviously don't know what it is. It is when the world starts with very little details then the detail starts "Popping In" hence the name "Pop-in" I noticed it in like my first two minutes of play and it is especially noticeable during cutscenes. If you haven't seen this yet then awesome you must have been playing the magic copy of Halo 2.

All those changes are so minor they don't deserve for this to be called a sequal, more like an expansion pack, if you read the end of my post you would have noticed this.

Don't take him so literal. Obviously there are changes, but the feel of the game and how it's played is very similar. One thing I noticed after playing on a LAN game of H2, was that the folks who were good at Halo had no problem adjusting, while the folks who sucked at Halo played just as bad, but noone said it felt that much different than the original.

Edit: Not trying to say the feel being similar is a bad thing, it most definately is not. =]

Max Payne 2 had about as many or less additions than this game, did you think it should have been an expansion? Also, I have not seen any poping in in the gameplay, just the cut scenes and it is very hard to notice. I played halo 2 this morning at school, and my brother who use to be about as good as me was wasting me, and my friend who sucks was doing 2nd best. I kept coming in last every time, and I kicked ass at the original Halo, but by the end I was coming in first.

An expansion adds just a few changes, not a whole single player campaign and a HUGE online game.

You're thinking about Sims expansions, because most expansions do in fact have their own SP Campaigns(Blue Shift, Opposing Force). The Online is an okay addition I'll give you that but the only reason the original didn't have it is because Xbox Live didn't exist then.

Also a new engine and improved AI, that is what mostly makes it a new game. I haven't beaten the single player campaign yet but it is amazing, elites and ODSTs!!!!

It feels like Halo, in a good way. But then there are a lot of changes, the level design it a ton different...I don't want to spoil anything for you either but besides that one thing the AI can drive you around(with much efficiency too) and cover you and all sorts of cool stuff. Also the new enemies change things a lot, and the new tactics by the enemies.

I think it sorta feels like Halo, but then again it plays quite differently due to the new additions/changes - especially MP.

I am still having fun with mp. I just got off XBL - unfortunately this time I was in a bunch of games where my teammates didn't do shit to help out with the objective...they just went for their own kills and I was stuck trying to capture the flag myself or plant the bomb myself. The games that I had good teammates were a blast though.

I can only see myself getting tired of it if my roomate starts BT d/ls while we play often or if I somehow always get stuck on teams with complete retards. I can't wait to play with close friends online (they suck at getting games when they're released).

To all the people that just come in this thread to insult Halo 1 & 2 and its fans...shut your damn mouth. We know you don't like Halo...wohoo for you...you're way cooler than us because you hate a game we have fun with. Why bother spending the time to throw in your random jabs here? There are plenty of Halo 2 vs. HL2 threads out there you can make stupid comments in.

Are you guys retarded? The multiplayer component of Halo 2 has been live for months. Quick start is still in development, so to join just hop into your local non-Halo 2 games forum and find a game (or 'thread') which is in no way associated with Halo 2 in any way and begin whoring! Your kill-death ratio is dependant on how many worthless/redundant comparisons you can make without being shot down by wannabe HL2 fanboys who've never played either game and just love themselves too much to admit they might be wrong!

(Please don't flame me, I'm not serious in the slightest... just having a bit of fun at certain people's expense ;))

For people who say that Halo 2 feels like Halo 1, here is the reason

Halo 1 worked

If a game can get rave reviews and be one of the best Xbox games at the time, it's obvious that Halo was fun for SOME people (but for some reason console games are hated here) and if a game works, you keep it. They added enough things to single player for the people who enjoyed the story, and a multiplayer component that was long overdue since the first Halo. If you don't enjoy it, fine, but the two games are made for two totally different audiences.

Blowing the mp way out of proportion. It's great, no doubt, but I've definately had more fun in CSS, UT2k4, Jedi Academy, and many other online games. The weapons are so dumbed down, it takes so many shots to kill a single person. It's fun, but nothing amazing or mindblowing as you put it. Christ I swear some of you halo fans really blow the game out of proportion. The success of Halo is due entirely to people like this that act like this has been the only game since Super Mario World. What's the maximum number of players?

16. For the maps they designed...16 players makes for nonstop killing. I've been playing Team Skirmishes which sets up 4v4 games. You can play Big Team Battles with 16 total people though.

Halo 2 is great. Sunday afternoon I went into EB, and saw all the "Midnight Madness" posters for the 12am opening for Halo 2. BTW, I didn't have an xbox at that time. So, Monday afternoon I went and bought an xbox, then at 12am went with my friend to EB and we both got Halo 2. Last night I had senior lock-in in my school, and we had four xbox consoles all networked, playing 8 and 10 player games. It was awesome.

XBox Live even works on my 112k dialup connection, 8 players works perfectly. I can't believe this game, it is awesome. I pretty much paid $200 for this, and it was well worth it.

Halo 2 with a mouse and keyboard on the X-box is a lot easier than aiming with a controller. It was a pain getting them to work with the game, so we chipped the bugger and now we can use a mouse and keyboard.

I can saftley say I kicked some serious butt.

Is that really satisfying tho? ;)

Seeing as you have such a huge advantage. (the ease of using a m&k plus autoaim - u could use your feet and still win lol)
