I actually downloaded the pirated Halo, played for about half an hour and unistalled it. A boring, uggly piece of console-imported crap, or atleast that's the impression I got of it. The "You lame-ass! The game only gets better after you get to know it!" -flame won't work, for me the first impression is everything. With reviews saying Halo2 is much like the original there's no fear my bandwidth's going to be wasted on it, not to mention my money..

Well... its meant to be played on the Xbox. The PC port came 3 years later with basically no changes. Its a console game and its one of the best to sit down and play with a few friends.

I can point out that the single player campian (that is what everybody wants for HL2) is only 10 hours on Halo 2 (or less if you rush through it.) But I'll try Halo 2 on legendary and see how long it takes..I really enjoyed Halo 1 on legendary cause it was so challenging and spectacular. The reason why Halo 2 is getting a Higher rating is because it is a CONSOLE GAME! NOT MANY CONSOLE GAMES CAN DO WHAT HALO 1 and 2 DID!! ESPECIALLY MULTIPLAYER!! But on the PC, you can do almost anything because you don't have the restrictions a console would have. But overall Half-life 2 will be a far better game, in terms of gameplay and graphics. If you watched the review for halo 2, gamespot points out that the graphics are not as good as everyone was saying it would be, Especially the cutscenes. That's why I think HL2 will kill Halo 2 (at least for me) :P

Halo 1 & 2 have the same gameplay and the same graphics. Even the gamespot reviewer said Halo 2 was pretty much the same as Halo 1.

If you make the comparison between Half-life 1 & 2, Hl2 seems (because i haven't played it yet) to have way better graphics, a different gameplay, physics, other characters/aliens/robots..etc.

I have seen a HL2 (edit: Halo 2 of course :)) gameplay movie on GameKings (that's a Dutch tv show about games) and the action looks all standard to me, I didn't had a woow moment, and I really don't see why people are so excited about this. I've played Halo 1 on the pc and I liked it but Halo 2 seems too much of the same. I think if it comes out on PC it will be a good game and maybe I will buy it but now it's hyped a lot too much. Only a few games deserve such a big hype (and one of them will be ours at 16 Nov ;)). It just looks like a standard game but that's my opinion.

that guy in the review just keep contradicting himself, he said the ennemies and vehicles are similar to the one in halo 1 and the single player compaigne isn't even as good as the halo 1, the level designe and maps are repeatitive, the story is a bit off with some political stuff, halo fans would not like it etc. U can't even play coop on xbox alive, u can only play it on the same console. the cut scene graphics are urgly, and the in-game graphics isn't that good neither, etc. Yes, and yes, he said all that stuff in the review video, and there are more negative points that he has mentionned, but i don't remember no more.

And you're trying to make out you're not a fanboy? The "ratings" are for one on different platforms, so they're hardly comparable (since most reviewers base their reviews on several factors such as graphics and interactivity, but these are heavily platform dependent) and secondly they're that close that it's impossible to say that one is better than the other when it all comes down to personal preference.

This goes for the thread starter as well, just stop making these threads, if you really want to give your opinion use an existing thread for god's sake, we don't need any more of these.

It will be an awesome multiplayer game to play with friends, but i doubt i'll be calling it the best MP ever anytime soon.

i used to be a fanboy of halo 1, but i was disappointed by the halo 1 pc version, that it doesn't even come with coop. then i start thinking what is the point to waste time being a fanboy of anything, just play and enjoy what i judge is good. and what is so original in halo 2's multiplayer ?? name some features that don't existe in other games. the game, is it really that fun ? or just the commercial make it to appear fun, and after all, it's just the same old crap. Man i enjoy playing red faction 1 online more than playing halo 1 pc online. and Ut2004 beats halo 1 to hell, now the halo 2 just looks like the same old halo 1. I'm getting excited over it.

My favor online fps games are natural selection, css, dod, battlefield serie, ut2004, red faction 1, etc. I don't see anything in halo 2 multiplay can surpass the games in the list.

it was an assumption due to the hype this games getting, basically what im saying is this game does not deserve the hype at all, I thought Halos single player was no better than Devestation on the PC (infact I enjoyed Devestation more and it got no coverage from anything), and apparently Halo 2 is exactly the same, I dont see what the big deal is, and the multiplayer has been done a million times before.

You admit yourself that Halo on Legendary was 'challenging and spectacular'. Anyone reason why you think the sequal will be different?

Also, that 10 hour estimate must be based on easy/normal difficulty settings. You know as well as I that mastering Halo 2 on Legendary is going to take ages (especially as it's meant to be harder than the first /o\)

You also forget to mention co-op - which alone is worth the price of the game (and an XBox imo) When it comes to pure gaming fun, very few titles can come anywhere near Halo in co-op (and i'm including Half-Life in that)

so, co-op is fun, just plain fun. you can sit there yelling @ each other trying to dodge enemies and have both of you survive, or you can run around tryin to see who can do the most impressive jump on level x.

xbox lans are so fun, having a bunch of people sitting around a few tv's killing each other.

I didn't find anything fun in Halo playing with mates...it didn't make me go "wow this rocks, so much fun" like goldeneye did. Tbh i have had tons more fun in Timesplitters MP...and SP.

To tell you the truth i dont particually like Half-Lifes story either. Its no better than FarCrys imo but atleast it has some unanswered un-obvious questions in there like Who the hell is G-Man!?

Well from the look of it, the complete immersiveness of the game, the way the story unfolds, the intense reaslism, the oodles of detail thats gone into every nook and krany (halo 2, the same as the last game, the same all the way through practically), the way youre not just blasting hordes after hordes of aliens like in halo 2. The genius level design, not the cut and paste blocks in Halo 2. The way the game makes you think, instead of the serious sam style halo has adopted. The graphics/physics etc are supreme compared to halo 2, there is no comparison. The whole game makes Halo 2 look pathetic. Oh yes then theres the endless mods, multiplayer and customisation to make the game popular for years to come.

Other examples of this is COD, nothing new MP wise, but its solid and polished. If you rate games only if they bring something new to the table, then you're missing out on alot of great games.

Now on another note: Halo has brought a good deal of features to multiplayer gaming. 2 weapon slots and the grenade trigger we're made widely known by Halo. Split-Screen gaming on a TV console was never attempted before Halo (I think, I'm really not sure).

It seems by the look of things that you people have to constantly keep finding "flaws" (you're opinion, not mine) to reassure yourself that you're not missing anything special. Half of you people probably don't even own an Xbox and you just don't want to admit you're gonna miss out on very good game. Not revolutionary by any means, but good.

The mods for HL2 are the thing that really outshines Halo 2. Seeing as how you can't have mods on a console (yet) I really don't see a reason to fault Bungie.

The more the public knows about it, the more people are going to play the game. simply because a game sells well and more people see it does not mean its a better game then a game then less people know about it.

take "The Longest Journey" for example. I'm playing through it now and its one of the best games i've ever played. Barely anyone but hardcore adventure fans have heard of it. Simply because a game isn't as successful financially or publicly as another game, doesnt mean its better.

HL2 is on a whole new level of FPS from the information we have on it. Nothing like it has been made before and it will make Halo2 look shit (it might not be shit for a console game - fair enough i give in, i cba with this anymore) in everything expect gameplay, which i still think HL2 will be far more fun from previous experience of Halo (on both Xbox and PC). HL2 is like the supreme FPS in everything expect graphics and most probably sound [which doom3 has the upper hand] (i dont give a **** about ratings because thats just 1 other persons opinion. they are no different than yours or mine).

Halo2 might sell more than HL2 at first but over the years i doubt it will. Should we take a bet that in 1 month you can't hear an echo of a Halo2 thread?. Halo2 fansites will have nothing on them either...they may very well still be packed with people but what will they be talking about? :| How they beat the game in 2 hours? How many times they can roll a vehicle over?. I could'nt care less if i saw the enemies/monsters appear right infront of me out of thin air (not even teleported in!!). I could'nt care less if HL2's story didn't exsist, i simply liked HL1's gameplay THAT WAS IT and have faith in Valve to not spoil that element. Edit/ Of course, its going to be fun dropping a 2 tonne metal box on the enemies heads but that isn't why i think HL2 will be the best FPS. I'm not even a HL fanboy either. But these are perfectly valid comparisons, and after watching 8 video's of Halo 2 MP last night i stand firm by my opinion that Halo 2's MP is going to be great, but its not going to bring anything new or better then what the Unreal Tournament series has introduced to the Multiplayer genre. Halo 2 thread on a HL2 forum and people are arguing, something unexpected!

I am pleased it did well, while Greg explained that levels are still repetitive, since it's only been a short dev time I guess. Location based vehicle damage seems cool and some of the graphics are updated.
Playing as covenant doesn't really interest me, were they out of ideas? Go to another Halo... Fight more flood. A sequel I guess

I'd say something, but every forumgoer ever has already had time to beat me to it. Three times each.

Still think it's a bit mad comparing games that very few people on the planet have had a chance to play, but that said I still reckon I'll prefer HL2 in the long run. An estimated Summer 2005 release for Halo 2 on the PC will certainly delay any decision of mine :sleep:

if halo2 is the same as halo1, than hl2 is the same as hl1.

halo2 will be more sucessful whether you liek it or not. it has millions of preorders in usa alone and is set to break all sorts of blockbuster records etc.

I could point out that Halo 2 is getting higher rating than Half-Life 2, but you are too much of a fanboy to care.

HL2 has a BS mp component (css). Gamespot will burn that fact into the ground and based on the SP, it will definately score lesser than halo 2 (in high 8s)

Innovative? What is so different about Halo 2 from Halo 1? Dual weapons? Hell, we had them back in Goldeneye N64.

Physics, mods, gameplay, storyline, graphics, everything makes HL2 a good game. It's the next generation in gaming, completely apart from practically anything else out now. If it's better or worse then Halo, to say that it is not good just brands you as a stupid Halo fanboy.

what's so amazing about halflife2 ? your in a secret facitily [whoa, originality jsut knocked me off my chair], you have to fight some aliens who are trying to take over a facility because they have been teleported with/tampered with by scientists [doom3, other games ?], you then have to escape [escaping is original].
there's halife in a nutshell. see how crap and unoriginal it sounds? it's just the way you word it.


Umm...are you saying that Half-Life 1 stole the plot from Doom 3, a game that was released 6(?) years after it?. At the time, it was fairly original. Also, Halo's plot isn't exactly original, is it?

If you watch the review..you will see that Halo 2 is just like Halo 1 in many ways..that's why HL2 is going to smash Halo 2 into the ground. Watch it and see for your self.

No, halo 2 is defiantely on par with these games. It's gameplay is fun as hell, and it's engine makes the unreal warfare/ unreal 2 engine look old. It certainly is better than ut2k4, in terms of technology and gameplay.

Oh, and have you played bf2, fear and hl2? no you haven't. Instead of arguing that "halo 2 sucks", just play the game instead - it's more productive and fun that way than typing on a message board defending unrealeased PC video games. :)

As you know, I'm usually one to argue in the Half-Life 2 vs. Halo 2 threads, especially recently. Then today, I was sitting quietly watching some TV and it hit me like a train: I'm lucky enough to play both games. Why I, or anyone else, wants to sit in front of a computer screen and argue which game uses normal mapping and which game doesn't have localization damage completely eludes me now.

Now I'm not saying that I now think Halo 2 is better or Half-Life 2 is better. I realized that within a few weeks, we will have both and I can play both and decide for myself.

Why people want to sit and argue and argue and argue about what this game has and what this game doesn't have is crazy. It's peoples opinion (see bottom of post for those who do not understand what this means) and no matter what you say or how you say it, you're not gonna change anyones minds or viewpoints. Bottom Line.

So why? Why waste precious time? If someone says Halo 2 or Half-Life 2 sucks, why argue? Does it offend you? Why?

Anyway, I'm getting Halo 2 tomorrow. I'll be getting Half-Life 2 in a couple of weeks. Which will be better? I don't know! But who cares?! I'm getting Halo 2 and Half-Life 2!!!
