It's a fake. It'd be pretty funny if he was telling the truth...but that's not the case :P

Its bs.
I dont belive MS is allowed to go on his PC and find out Halo2 was on his desktop.Thats got to break some kind of privacy law.

There is. No one is allowed to access your computer through the internet without permission.

god damn you bungie! ,, errr,, microsoft!
its a fake
1) MS would have to hack into his PC to find it on his desktop. MS doesn't hack into random people's PCs. (I'm sure they could but they would waste their time doing that)
2) Even if it was real, he could delete it and there would be no evidence it ever existed on his computer.

#2 is not true. You can format your HD and the FBI can still retrieve files that were on it. The only real way to destroy the evidence would be to break the HD physically, maybe burn it or something.

there are programs that will completely erase the information. the fbi is very good at restoring "destroyed" hd's. i saw a tv program on this once. very cool.
Yes after being called up over suspision of piracy smashing your hard-drive would not seem like a suspicious activity at all.. in-fact I recommend it.

lol funny, but they'll never get $100,000 from him, he'd be working all his life to pay that off!
And yes, it probably is fake.
Also the fact that Microsoft has apparantly "Admitted" that they knew the copy was on his desktop suggests a breach of privacy (They must have used backdoor methods in Windows to gain access to his desktop). If they'd just said that they'd traced a downloaded copy of the game to his I.P. address then it'd be more believable.

Funny but fake.
For one, microsoft wouldn't call him at his house, they would contact him by email or snail mail through his ISP. Even if they called, they wouldn't know his name, only his dad's, unless he's the one who is paying for the connection in his parents' house instead of his parents (which is unlikely).
As has been said it's also unlikely that they would hack into someone's pc, as evidence like that wouldn't hold in court.
And why was 'microsoft' calling anyway? They contacted him to tell him he would be contacted later? Yeah right.
It's either simply a rather obvious fake post, or his friend got a prank call.
