Sorry about this Sheepy, but still:
I've never quite understood the slavish devotion of this band's fans. They aren't anything but average and try too hard to be 'deep', like post-modern art students :o
Well, it's just my opinion, but I've heard almost all of their songs, and I've liked very few.

Maybe it is you trying too hard, and in your red faced fury of constipated 'I'm going to be different'(or whatever may be suitable. It is not always easy to explain) you see them as posers of some kind.
...or maybe not. I quite like them though. However, I do not it seems have anything by them.

i think they are very good, their songs are weird and wacky, and they have only cursed 1 or 2 times that i have heard in a song.

I like them. their music is only good for short periods of time though, any longer than 15 minutes and I get bored. doesnt seem like the're trying to be deep/ meaninful to me, just fun/wacky lyrics...

Don't listen to them if you don't like them :P
I don't have the effort or stomach capacity right now to refute all your points, and if I did it wouldn't do anything.
I have seen them live during the summer though, and that was probably the best night of my life to date. Their concert energy is amazing.
and they've been a band since before you were born ;)
yeah. I'm just not going to bother right now, it won't change anything, you're a completely different kind of music listener than I :)

gotta go with badger on this one.. i do think they're "trying to hard". i don't think they're at all disingenuous, they're just complete dorks, and generally dorks try too hard (not being critical, just making an observation). never have, never will like punk nor this 'post-punk' thing.
i've only listened to bits n pieces, but nothing i've heard would make me want to hear more. chacun a son gôut i guess.

labels I dislike. what the hell is post punk? genres are so annoying.

labels can be a convenient way of describing music, as long as you don't attach too much importance to the label itself. post-punk is precisely what it sounds like, after-punk. musically, it's basically pop-rock grafted onto a punk base. that's what their earlier stuff sounds like to me, i haven't heard much of their more reecent music, so i'm not sure if post-punk would be an accurate description for them now.

I wouldn't say they fit a general label that much at all really. They've always done their own thing, just look at the differences between birdhouse in your soul, ana ng, and particle man. they've done a children's album, their latest album is very energetic and hyper.
and you have disappointed me by having snoop dogg and eminem on your playlist :( though a few(few!) of eminems songs I don't mind so much.

edit: actually, i need to clean out my rap/hip-hop.. there's some stuff int here from my younger days that needs to go..

TMBG doesnt always hit the mark, but when they do its fun and enjoyable. They do try to be too artistic sometimes, but their strength really is in their honest sillyness.
Though I suppose they are poignant on occasion :)
I enjoy (some of) their work, and yah, Flood is great!
