darkthrone - transilvanian hunger for office or any other cold snowy maps is amazing. brutal black metal would be the music of choice when it comes to slaughtering people with assault riffles. emperor, immortal, satyricon, and nokturnal mortum are also suggestions.

Soil, Machine Head, Dimmu Borgir and In Flames should suffice.

Try these, really good for mass slaughter:

Soil - Halo
Machine Head - Imperium
Dimmu Borgir - Hybrid Stigmata
In Flames - Swim

If those don't get you rockin nothing will.

lol @ dimmu and in flames...

ya, pop metal really gets me going.

emperor whipes the floor with both those bands. vortex is the only good thing in dimmu, and he was better when he was in borknagar. shagrath tries too hard to sound like vintersorg and is a disgrace to that dissection tattoo on his arm. in flames hasnt been good since the jester race. just my 2 cents

if anyone wants some good songs, PM me

maybe not for everyone, but Demon Hunter has a agressive style. I just played a round of HLDM and played their CD and now feel like I ran a race without running.

I find Coal Chamber is great to kill to.

Not really, metalica is crap compared to black/death metal today. Even when they were "good" durring the 80's, bands like Slayer, Bathory, Iron Maiden, and Merciful Fate were far beyond the soon-to-be-sellouts that were metallica.

Led Zeppelin had more talent in their bongs than metallica had alltogether.

Guess what? I know all of those bands, I hate a lot of black and death metal, and I still think Metallica are the superior musicians. Call me an idiot if you want, but to say I don't know shit about metal just because I think metallica are brilliance on a stick, would be a bit pre-emptive of you.

Metallica sucks.

Sorry but Metallica's albums up to and including "Master of Puppets" is Thrash Metal perfection and no Thrash album since MoP has managed to surpass Metallica at what they did best all those years ago, with the possible exception of Megadeth's "Rust in Peace".

So Metallica - Creeping Death is sufficiantly heavy to listen to.

Guess what? I know all of those bands, I hate a lot of black and death metal, and I still think Metallica are the superior musicians.

They are mediocure musicians at best. Better in the 80s, but they suck now. The musicianship and complexity within ANY Emperor album far surpasses that of anything metallica could ever dream of. Ihsahn and Samoth are better guitarists, and Trym especially is 10,000 times better than Lars at drums... He can't even do a good double bass fill.

You for one have to BE a musician to truely appreciate metal, in all forms. Metallica is simple, Emperor is not. Even the mediocure of norweigan metal, Dimmu Borgir, did a better job with orchestral composition than metallica.

If you've never heard any Emperor, I suggest you PM me. I also have PowerTabs (midi tab program, shows tabs and sheet music) of every Emperor album so you can see the complexity involved. When you want to make a point that metallica are better musicians than black metal musicians, show some evidence.

To say you like thrash metal over black metal is personal taste, but to say they are superior musicians is utterly ridiculous.

I've listened to Emporer, I don't like them that much.

I know Metallica are simple compared to their peers, but I don't think that makes their songs any worse. They might not write very technical music, but that doesn't make them any less as musicians. Complexity does not equal better, and simple does not equal worse. I personally think Metallica's songs are much more effective, and they don't need complexity in their songs to prove it. I'd rather judge musicians on their ability to move me, rather than their ability to write and play complex music. I can certianly appreciate complexity and technical skill, it's just not what I look for in a good musician. I'd rather listen to "Low Man's Lyric" than "Dyer's Eve".

Again, don't assume that just because someone thinks Metallica are a great band, they must be some sort of ignorant fool.

I guess it all comes down to what you like better. Personally, Emperor moves me far more than many other bands. I agree with you about the simple vs technical aspect (if you listen to my band, although heavily Emperor influenced, we are far from that kind of technicality), but to me, Emperor was a band that had to seep into my realm of comprehension. It took me many years before I actually understood their music. Ihsahn's ability to mold melody, mood, and atmosphere into a storm of distorted chaos is what I find moving and clever about it.

I used to like simple, too. Now I cannot listen to a song unless it has at least 4 mood changes and dynamic parts, while simultaneously invoking some emotion within myself.

Also, I don't think all metallica fans are idiots. But the majority of their fans (at least here in the US) believe that metallica is the heaviest of metal. Dynamically, I just like to inform people that there is much heavier shit out there. You're from Europe, so naturally you have a far better knowledge of black/death metal bands from the Norse lands than the average metal fan from the states. If you were to hear the drivel they play on the radio and tv here, you'd understand my hatred for the american music scene. I just find underground music superior to mainstream.

And who is that in your avatar? Always reminds me of Satyr from Satyricon.

hehe Satyr is a funny guy. Suprised you don't like Emperor then! Those two bands have been friends for a while. Ihsahn played keyboards on Nemesis Divina, and Frost and Ihsahn were in Zyklon-B. Satyricon is a much different band, all aquaintances aside, but they are definitly one of my favorite bands as well. (Been listening to Shadowthrone all day) Seems we managed to find common ground afterall, Kage. If you haven't listened to my band yet, you may very well like if Satyricon is something you can indeed tolerate.

Ya, thing to keep in mind is that those songs were recorded in a dorm room last year. We've progressed a good deal since then, and just recently got some more talent added to the lineup. (As well as actual places to record.) The newer material is very smooth, very fluid. If you listen to us again, make sure to do it the proper way -- really stoned. Not that I'm using the excuse of "all music sounds better high", but we actually engineer it to be that way. Things you miss upon first listen might come through clearly after a few hits. (That isn't the final recording for those songs anyway, just the second. The "album ready" recordings will be done soon.) What'd you expect from a stoner college black metal band? :farmer:

I'll PM you a link to a recording of an expirimental song not on the website, let me know what you think.
