i was just thinking about the way that steam handles loads between levels and i was comparing it to the was that the old hl handled the same loads.

i really liked the way that the old loads worked where it took a screenshot of your screen right before loading, and that was your loading screen while you wait. this was a GREAT way to do loads because it made the continuity that was great about halflife more developed.

the way that steam handles it is much less desireable because the black plain screen breaks the game up into different little sections which takes away from the continuity that is great about hl. i hope that they do not use steam style loads for hl2.

what do you guys think?

Almost certainly the same. VALVe know what they're doing, so I wouldn't be surprised if something similar appears for HL2 (CS:Source doesn't really count). Besides it's never been mentioned in any of the reviews I know of, which may be a good sign ...

I think I heard in some movie or read in some sort of interview that they were gonna do the loading in the exact same way that HL1 is, to keep the continuity. I can't find the source atm, but I will post it if I find out where I learned of this information.

It's not a screenshot, its actually just the game not doing anything (It's still rendering to the screen, your just can do any movement etc.) And I'm sure they'll add it, doesn't seem like it would be alot of hard work. Plus your right, did make the game a bit better (I like comparing my crappy scored to everyone elses :P)

I think that HL1 actualy is like that in steam, there was a period where they were all like the multiplayer. But they changed back Sp i think...
