You know, the movie preloading is to conserve bandwidth (I think) but I don't think it works. I mean, when there's just a movie preload we all rush on Steam the minute it comes out despite the fact we won't watch it for a day.

I think a better plan would be to randomly release the movies at random times.

Heres how the previous two went:

1. Weekend
2. Preload movie
3. Activate movie
4. No movie
5. Preload movie
6. Activate
7. Weekend

Skip next week and repeat.

I think the real problem is that my Steam seems to download the movie twice: once when it's supposedly being pre-loaded, and then again when it is activated. My guess is that what they are doing is only preloading PART of the movie, and when you activate it, you can get the rest of the movie. That way they can spread out bandwidth as well as make the movies totally uncrackable (because random bits of the movie are simply missing)
