Is there some people out there that are not going to buy HL2 after the news of no MP?

There probably are. I'm not one of them.

I'm sticking my neck out here - but I reckon there will be some pretty good multiplayer games using the HL2 engine.

If so, I think it is kind of silly.

Valve is going to be so supportive of the mod community there will be all kinds of multplayer. Its like they only want the HL2 if Valve makes the multiplayer and nobody else.

I'm still buying it....but I was mainly looking forward to the SP experience so meh...

I think that most of the people planning to buy it because of Multi was waiting for either CS:s or the mods anyways...so I don't think that a whole lot will have changed their mind...but who knows...

will that affect me purchasing hl2? HELL NO
besides its HL2... I mean cmon.. we are still playing hl1 engine games 6 years later... that speaks volumes.

If there are any, then they should not have been buying the game in the first place.

The Half Life series is a SINGLE PLAYER FOCUSED series above all. The MP portion of HL was pretty much an afterthought that mod makers used to create the wonderful games that are DoD and CS.

There are lots of better mp experiences than the standard HL DM and TDM out there - leave those of us who prefer a more focused SP experience to enjoy Half Life 2 in peace :smoking:

CS:S definitely appeals to more players then HL:DM did when HL came out.

Somehow, I think the mod community will provide more variety then any company ever could.

I was displeased because I wanted to see some big maps and maybe some team based vehicular combat.. or something with physics.

but waiting for mods will do as well I guess.
I guess if you really want to be optomistic about it, you could say
"well with Hl2 having no original MP component, that just leaves more ideas open to us"
