haven't found infos about this: will source be able to read savegames from the first episode of our favourite saga?

Why would you want to start Half-Life: Source from somewhere other than the beginning anyway? There should be enough suttle changes to make the game seem like a new experience, while staying remotely the same.
I would say no for the saved games, since it's a new engine (as many have stated).

As others say, probably wont work. Besides there's no need for them, you'd miss most of the game and it would end up ruining what little they've done to improve HL1 in Source by skipping chunks of it.
If you want to skip levels though, I imagine its still just a case of typing map and the level name

I agree! just asking after a discusison with a friend that never completes HL1..
however i'm still thinking that some words from valve (probably about a tool?) must have been reported in the "info thread"... i better increase my searching skills
