That all depends.

I imagine the game will go through a much stricter QA process than the usual titles as it's looking to be one of Vivendi's biggest releases of the year.

Also bare in mind, that it's not just HL2 being tested, it should be CS:Source and HL:Source too.

remember this isnt valve were talking about here :P, I honestly think the amount of testing valve seem to have done will save them time, so I realistically think a week at most for VU to label it gold worthy. Unless VU sit of their asses, which isnt likely, they want to get this game on the shelves asap surely.

No. It means a copy of HL2 has been sent to Vivendi, who will decide whether it is gold worthy or not. If it isn't, they tell Valve what needs to be done in order for Gold to happen.

I think next week is a bit too soon for a gold anouncement. Even if Vivendi has dozens of testers, it's a big game and it has to be tested on a variety of hardware and with lots of different settings. I assume the final testing on the RC would take at least two weeks.

Still, I would be very pleased with an early november release. It's not that far off now. :D

This is not valve. Vivendi is not valve.
They are working their buts off (no sleep or social life whatsoever) to get it out the door because they want to ship it FAST.
