Ok as this is my favourite game that ive been playing almost 2 years i reccomend trying it out because it is fun. ;)

If you can download it i think most FPS fans would like it as it isnt dumb point 'n' click. Its just like normal FPS only with a recticle. It does cost money to play usually but open beta does'nt.

Its not really a sequel, its the expansion they promised from last year with a new name.

Nah you dont have to pay for beta simmo. I was just saying that its a monthly fee game as HL2.net has alot of cheap skates who get a fret on when they hear "monthly fee"

Ill try get some screens up comparing the two together as i have both obviously and show you how much the "same" it is. :p

I dont really Trust them, i played NC from Beta 4, then got retail and guess what? It was the exact same version as the final beta 4 patch. How do i know? well installing beta 4 and putting in the new IP and username/Password allowed it to run with only 1 patch needed, half the stuff they promised wasn't included, Geowarps were put in about 4 months later.

There doesn't seem to be much difference other than 'new prostitues' and a new city, i dont see the new effects up to 'DX 9' standards like they said.

I'll download it, but if not much is different then thats my last straw with that Dev.

I always wanted to play Neocron, when I heard they were making a sequel/expansion I nearly fainted. I thought the concept rocked, but they didn't pull it off very well in #1.

But still anyway, this game isnt about graphics nor is it about jumping aboard the leveling treadmill for months on end like all MMO's. Its about PvP and it has unique PvP which is hella fun and takes actual skill unlike other MMO's. If your a carebear then this isnt for you already, if your a roleplayer then this could be for you but with select people but if you like to just kill people for the sake of killing them without their consent then this game you'd probably like it.

Oh im in Orford in warrington AcousticToad. Hella rough :p well it is from where i came from originally (near Prestbury) but its only temporary till we move to a posh area in warrington.

I played Neocron for well over 6 months (not including beta) - it had its hiccups and problems (some very large), but it was a very sweet experience overall. I'd quite like to know what they've changed for this, though.

I played the first beta...It was good I suppose, but I never really got into it. I wasn't as much into that kind of thing back then anyway.

Heh I used to GM in Neocron back in the day (Moonunit if that rings any bells), but after 18 months of Beta and retail I decided to call time on it (GMing dampens the ardour for a game after a while). In hindsight I always viewed Neocron as something of a flawed classic. The potential was there for something astounding, but unfortunately it just fell short.

A lot of Neocrons early release problems pretty much arose from having a lead programmer who wouldn't listen to the player base, coupled with a CEO for whom the project was just merely one of several different business interests. Fortunately the lead programmer left and his replacement was making good headway in resolving a lot of the bugs and balancing issues if I recall with the aid of members of the GM team.

I think I'll probably download the beta and give it a look to see how much has changed. Graphically the game was never as high tech as SWG, but it possessed a grittiness of atmosphere and level of addictiveness that many other MMP titles could only wish for.

I remember trying to get the original Neocron Beta, never could get it to run. So now after 5 hours of downloading I got this. Whats a good class for starters? I tried the tutorial out and I was even confused about majority of stuff, I got stuck after 2 minutes into it when I had to construct the rifle.

You have a constructor tool, a rifle blueprint and a bunch of items. Right click the blueprint to view the parts required to make the gun, then place those and the blueprint into the constructor tool, then press the start button, and the tool will make the item, which will appear in your backpack when finished. To arm yourself with the rifle drag it to one of your weapon slots on the right hand side.

If you get really stuck visit the newbie section of the game site and read up there. Neocron has a steep learning curve, think of it as morrowind with mutants and shotguns.

What are the system requirements for Neocron 2?
Minimum: Pentium III – 1,4 GHz...

i got 0.8GHz so i'm out...
and because i'm not planning on running a community that is 'not needed' and does no longer include me i quit with the site..

HOWEVER: i have opened an irc channel on QuakeNet for international use. (#neocron is mainly german). this will is #neocron2

It was only released a day early so current NC players could d/l it so it might take a few days till its about on proper websites and for the record, i dont agree with BT i think BT sucks arse. I burned closed beta from my bro's pc and used that instead of d/l'ing.

Abom they changed alot, it got a bit of a face lift but most of the new stuff is the stuff you dont see. Like you might remember Fatal RunTime Errors? well ive had zero in 2 days which is one less NC player bitching on the forums about how much it sucks. Safezones got removed :cheese: Only faction HQ's and Bar's are safezones now and as im in NCAT (National Carebear Assaination Team :p ) we can pk EVERYWHERE.

You might remember the factions...well they got split into 2 sides except City Mercs who are now neutral to everyone (proper carebears faction) but the rest are either a DoY (dome of york - the addon) faction or a neocron faction.

They added hacknet, new vehicles, no new classes because there is enuf variation between the ones atm, doy obviously (which is MASSIVE), new server (pluto, saturn, uranus are getting mered into 1), alot of the gams mechanics are getting changed.

I cant really promote it because i honestly dont know whats new as i cant be arsed playing it with a rank 0/2 char when all my retail chars get transfered next week so i can PK PK PK PK!!! :cheese:

Just recently I started playing again and the spark of enjoyment had gone... nothing really motivated or excited me any more, but I guess that's what you get for a solid half-year+ of playing. I'll always remember the great times I had playing, though.

Does getting "drunk" still just make your screen show lots of static and immobilize you? That sucked. I remember wasting all my money on booze to get totally plastered... before I found out what alcoholic beverages did to you in Neocron. Why bother putting it in the game if there is absolutely no use for it?

I might play again if I can get drunk and puke everywhere. :E

I got the 3 bins pretty quickly and i'm installing at this very moment! I'll tell you what it's like from a noob's perspective sometime later. I've only played the offline demo a long, long time ago.

Its got quite a tricky learning curve, you wont have a clue what to do at first but you soon get used to it and it seems quite basic after that. If you talk on custom chat>OOC or help channel im sure someone will be willing to help you. If you tell me your name maybe ill even be of assistance :p but im not really playing it because i dont see a reason to level a noob when my 6 capped chars get transfered over next week....

For the books, it has got a memory leak in atm and its known by the devs as it was added in yesterday somehow and they are working on a fix for it so you WILL have jumpy FPS until it gets fixed unless you've got a couple gb of memory. Ive got 1gb ddr400 and i get it.

Hmmm, it's pretty much how I remember the last beta... except for a few added things like HackNet and the stock market.

HackNet is weird (although it allows quick travel for Hackers once you get used to it)... and a bit buggy. I fell from a place that should have killed me and got stuck in there because I couldn't get back up. Is there a command to kill yourself?

... and that memory leak sure is a pain in the ass.
