HL1: Stuck in Interloper

You know that at the beginning of Interloper you are supposed to get into the teleporter by jumping around on those flying alien-shaped platforms in order to get to there. Well, for some reason, as soon as I try to jump on to that piece of land, I die, as if there is a barrier around the area where the teleporter is at. So any bright ideas about what causes my death in this situation?

Are you using any cheats, playing half life through opposing force, or any other reason.

There's a small floating section towards the bottom on the other side of the teleporter that has a body and an ammo container. Go to that.
Then one of those manta-ray things will spawn right next to you. Hop aboard and it will take you to your destination.
