New weapon? (alyx gun?)

Ok - Gamewallpapers have that concept pic of Gordon and alyx infront of the citadel. I noticed Alyx holding a gun - could this be an indication of another new weapon?

Anybody has any idea which model it is?

That is not the USP match. I'm 100% sure. The USP is whitish from a first person perspective, and the behind of this gun is black. Also the USP doesn't have those holes on top.

it looks a little like the usp in metal gear solid 2, but the extended clip suggests its a rapid firing weapon. its just concept art though, it doesnt mean its in the game, even though gordon is holding items in the same picture that are in the game. basically some artist probably just made it up as he wasnt told specifically what gun to draw in her hand, the guy was probably just told to give her a pistol

There are no real world guns that look exactly like the one in that wallpaper. It looks like the USP pistol with a lot of artistic liberties taken.

Edit: The texturing on the various clothes are eye-catching though. Well done.

To me, it looks like a modified glock of some kind... perhaps a g23, because they have circular holes on the top of the slide, a bit like in the image.

Yeah, Gordons suit actually looks like it could take some shotgun shells to the chest without flinching.

Yep - I think Gordon is no longer just a "scientist in the wrong place" any longer. More of a hardened warrior.

The gun is proly going to be in the game cause if you see in the HL2 preload there is a folder inside the models folder called Alyx_gun.

Edit: Or atleast based on the Mk23 SOCOM. Also, the magazine is an extended magazine made to hold more rounds. Doesn't necessarily mean it's an automatic weapon.

I'd have to agree w/ lemming mainly because of the extended clip and the hole at the top. This suggests that it has maybe a burst fire capablity and a full auto which explains the holes for more rapid cooling.

Looks like a Glock20c with a LAM. The glock20 is 10MM auto, ort the gun could just be the glock from the original hl just with a LAM

It's probobly a completelly custom design the concept artist made up. I wouldn't be surprised if Alyx made it. None of the guns in HL2 are copies of real world ones. They are either modified real guns, or completely original. Well... the revolver is real i think. Sorry, I'm not an expert, just my $.02.

Still, even if the guns look exactly like their real counterparts, things like clip size, accuracy, ROF and so on are all modified by valve at some point or other to help balance the gameplay. (well, except for the crowbar, but you gotta admit it swings pretty fast :P)

The H&K MP-7 PDW can have an M203 grenade launcher attachment, so it may not be integrated, and the MP7 uses 4.6mm rounds, a copper BB is 4.5mm just for some size comparison, so the mp7 should be able to hold a substantial ammout of ammo but its stopping power would be nothing, a BB traveling at 2400FPS would go through you or maybe stay in you, yeah it'd burn like a bitch but think of the ammount of BB sized bullets one of those zombies could take, thats why i dont think the MP7 is whats in HL2
