Is Nightmare really a nightmare?

Hmmmm...I have just started the Nightmare difficulty and I have noticed something awry. In the beginning when the marine says to collect "your gear" which contains armor and your pistol, I also noticed that I got the soul cube as well. Is this a glitch or is it part of the ganme because I thought the soul cube could only be obtained later in the game because of how the plot unravels and things like that. Sooooooo...Is anyone else experiencing this?

Yes you get the soul cube right off the bat at Nightmare level.

This is to compensate for your constantly dwindling health until it reaches 25.

It's quite pathetic that Id couldn't come up with a better way to make nightmare more of a challenge then to cut 3/4 of your health every level.

I wonder what they are going to do for HL2 nightmare: the only weapon you get for the entire game is the manipulator. Have fun :)

If you have a soulcube at the start of the game.... maybe you'll need to find a second :o

But it sounds a little cheap..

It's completely necessary because on Nightmare there are NO health packs. Ever. Just extremely rare med stations.

it is correct you start off with the soulcube.

its only there to give you a chance.

i mean with your health going down every couple of seconds.

I can't survive very long in nightmare mode, the soul cube helps but it is tough going.

Nightmare is no breeze with the soul cube. I'm only at alpha level 2 and I've definitly died at least 25 times

if the soulcube is in the beginning, doesn't that mean the story changes, because part of your mission is to go get it and Betruger at least once remarks the Soulcube is in hell.
