i'm pretty excited, although i didn't like the first nwn very much, may be obsidian can change that, i mean with feargus on the team the the guy who oversaw such devs as icewind dale, and baldur's gate 1&2, not to mention worked on a little game called FALLOUT, this is great news

God, so freaking lame, I was hoping for a new and fresh franchise from these guys, but no, all they do is sequels for games Bioware doesn’t care about anymore. You know, re-name the company to Bioware Jr.

well, they are still a relatively young company, and they kinda need this bioware re-hash to prove that they can handle rpg development to other publishers so they can get funded to from atari or even interplay, if they're still around, or some other publisher so they can start on a brand new franchise.

but for the most part i agree that it's a pretty sad story that obsidian won't be able to work on anything all that new until after 2006 :x

Most of the devs at Obsidan worked on Planescape:Torment. A game better than most of you guys, on the Grand Scale of All Things (tm).

well it had great writing and an awesome style but it was kind of short and linear. its not even close to baldurs gate gate 1 / 2 imo.

torment is leaps and bounds ahead of all the bg's it's second to fallout on my list, it was something really new for black isle to do outside the traditional d&d license, the entire planescape world was really really unique to me, plust the story was really really really cool

I really look forward to thre RPGs coming in 2-3 years. NWN 2 (who will not stray from the 'develop your own adventure' cource the original took, thanks to that NWN was the most enjoyable game Ive ever played), and Dragon Age which is a spiritual sequel to NWN and BG developed by Bioware (JFYI, Im a bioware fanboy :) ).
