Half-Life 2, but only for the mods. If mods don't count in this choice, just the core single player, Doom3 without a doubt.

Doom 3 for the sole reason that I know it will be in stores by August 5 (possibly sooner).

Half-Life 2 keeps on getting pushed back. At least they are taking their time with it.

In reality, I am getting both games.

My pick goes for HL2 simply coz if its mods mainly CS:S , also HL2 is gonna have a longer single player.

half-life2, if for some ungodly reason the single player sucks then there's cs:source, which i would pay full price for regardless, and then comes the mods.......yea and doom3 has from what i hear a great single player and deathmatch.......not as many mod communities making games for it as hl2....yea it'll be hl2 no contest

Umm dood hl1 was based off the quake II engine. :) But yeah ill take doom III over hl2 because i can play doom on my linux system. :)

Just because it was based on the Quake 2 engine (it was actually a largely revamped Quake 2 engine), doesn't mean Q2 and HL feel the same gameplay wise

I totally agree. I've been wowed way more times by the HL2 video's then the Doom 3 video's.

Doom 3 > HL2 graphically

HL2 > Doom 3 gameplay wise (judging on the video's)

They are both totally different games, but i have a feeling Doom 3 is just going to be a scarier version of System Shock 2 (Which isn't a bad thing) without the puzzles and the great story.

i'm not a big fan of just plain DM multiplayer, it gets boring fast, and i'm guessing hl2 is gonna have some incredibly multiplayer. Plus i've heard things like Doom3 is relatively short. If halflife2 is a short game after 5 years in the making, i'm gonna go to gabe's house and smack him in the face with a dead hamster.

The HL2 SP seems to be something as big a deal as it's predecessor - it has tension and atmosphere (due to propaganda, not due to scary atmosphere - what a feat! valve good job!), scary momments too, and characters with personality. Also, the gameplay so far looks like a hell lot of fun. Can't wait.

I agree. Valve might screw release dates up, but at least they are much closer to the community and reply to mails.
