A new video showing a Vampire 2 Demonstration was released today.

Wow, that video was awesome! Good to see Troika is still good with their character development stats and stuff... Arcanum's was really good... and Bloodlines has even got a similar layout. :P

Yes it has Deus Ex was one of the 1st games to be a RPG/FPS game.

To be honest I havnt been all that impressed with this game...
But I dunno.. watching that video somehow reminded me of DeusEx... Dont ask me how. It just did! :O

Great gfx - was a big fan of Vampire the masqurade(sp?)...
A thing that bugs me is in the vid the footstep sound does'nt seem to follow the characters footsteps (animation) - dunno if its a sync problem with the vid or not.
Oh yeah and it sounded like he was running around on bare feet - odd?

after playing DX through a good 5 times, i know how you feel. But yeah this is going to be "DX2". It's just the robots and things have "different" textures.... Okay okay i'm talking crap but you all get the idea. I am however chuffed to bits.

I really, really liked the VGUI 2 system being shown off, though that was due to it's obvious potential in HL2 and mods- very pretty, very slick, very useful.
huge fan of fallout, and a lot of the people from troika are from fallout dev team, played a little bit of elemental evil, had a blast, that game can get pretty tough, but yea, this game looks pretty good, i really want to check it out when it comes out.
i like the amount of choices you get to choose your race, what choice are you guys gonna choose, right now i'm looking toward those charismatic ones b/c i love playing like that in an rpg, although the nosferatu is definately gonna be a popular pic to.
I didn't really see any speculars, though. They really look pretty neat in HL2 - and seeing the gritty style of vampires - it would have made a fine addition.
The VGUI2 looks good, and finally a RPG with good graphics after a long time. I think the last good looking RPG (graphically) I had played was dungeon seige and morrowind.
I wasnt keen on the character models from the screenshots , but the club owner was pretty hot.
Was that just me then?

I really don't think I'll get the game, as with HL2/Doom3/Halo 2 I don't have the cash really..... But hey I'll definetely keep an eye on it ;) Maybe it will astound me at a certain date and I'll get it...

Don't have a source on this but expect it to be coming out around the same time as hl2. The game is essentially finished, but under contract, they have to wait for hl2 to be released.

Until HL2 reveals its MP, this part interests me much much more.

Watched all the vids now.. This game actually looks alot of fun! :)
The last vampire game (Vampire the masquerade - redemption) was just a bloodfest, half the time you were just making sure that your blood meter was full, and the combat sucked. Now with Fist person perspective the game's combat should kick butt.

I was just thinking about that joke site about banning Doom 3. I'm actually somewhat surprised religious groups or the media haven't latched on to this game yet as being "evil".
In some ways I'd say it's a bit worse than Doom 3 in areas like violence, sex, gore, and anti-religious imagery.
In other words, it's going to be great.:)

I dont think this game will best Deus Ex. Deus Ex's story was insane. Not saying VtM will be bad, might be a great game, but i feel the story wont be near Deus Ex's.

IMO, the story was one of the few things Deus Ex had going for it (make no mistake, it was a damn good story). The graphics were ok (a bit bland compared to the competition, but not to the point to the point of ugliness), the animation was stiff (and people looked like they were trying to run on ice), the voice acting was merely tolerable, character customization was practically nonexistant until you were quite a way into the game (at the beginning you could only pick between a few crappy face skins and allocate some points to a couple of skills... and you had to put most of them into one skill to make it worth using), and there was no multiplayer until it was added in a patch (and what was added sucked).
A story is very important, but a game has to be well-rounded. If Deus Ex were better in everything else I might have played it more than just once. I mean, I knew that it had multiple endings, but I didn't care.
I think Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines will best Deus Ex overall. I can't judge the game based on the story since I know nothing about the story, but, so far, everything I've seen in VtM:B has been better than it was in DE. The graphics look great, the character animations are expressive and smooth, the voice acting is impressive and fits the characters, you can pick between 14 base characters (7 unique races and 2 genders) and an optional choice of one of the many character backgrounds/histories before you even get to the deeper attribute customization (all of those choices make a difference in the gameplay and/or the story), the built-in multiplayer sounds cool........ and the game has ****ing VAMPIRES!
IMO, if VtM:B's story even comes close to the depth of the story of Deus Ex it will be a superior game because the same level of quality is in all aspects of the game... something lacking in Deus Ex.

it being on the source engine is just an extra goody!

Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines multiplayer game pits players against each other in the ultimate team-based battle of Kindred versus Kine. Players choose which side to ally themselves with and which powers and weapons to take into battle. I really don't think too much to it. I haven't been overly impressed with the graphics, especially the people - I mean, one of Source's highlights is the expressions and realistic faces, and "Fat Larry" looked rubbish (his voice acting was appalling too). Perhaps the physics sytem etc. has been well implemented. Certainly it looks like they're giving a lot of thought to open-ended gameplay which is, of course, a Good Thing and it looks to have some very solid RPG gameplay. It could be excellent but, personally, I won't be bothered about this game until it gets stellar reviews.
I thought the voice acting was well good.

His face had enough detail, the vertices around his mouth deformed well when he spoke, the animations were a bit flamboyant but not beyond believability for a person that talks like him, and the voice acting fit his quirky character. I'm 90% sure he's supposed to act like he does in those videos (maybe for a touch of comedy in an otherwise dark game or just to be weird). You probably just have different tastes.

No I just thought the voice acting sounded a bit lazy, like the actor wasn't particularly up for it or familiarised with the accent. Plus, after seeing the detail in the faces of HL2's characters I just expected something similar.

After watching the vids, i think i might really enjoy this game, but on the other hand i generally steer away from games like that. An example being Heretic and its sequel.
Edit: Not because I think its neccesarily evil, but there are some influences i can do without.

I agree with you when looking at characters like the g-man, where they've put a lot of effort into the lip synching and facial animations. But when you watch the e32k4 vid the average NPC's seem to have a much simpler lip synch, more like that shown in the vampire vid. So I think it may be a case of Vampire just having too many NPC in the game to be able to spend too individual time on each one.
I agree with you when looking at characters like the g-man, where they've put a lot of effort into the lip synching and facial animations. But when you watch the e32k4 vid the average NPC's seem to have a much simpler lip synch, more like that shown in the vampire vid.
aye, but the scene where alyx enters the scene in eli's lab showed it's also shows good lip synching happening in-game. Another example is that drunk dude in the apartment - his addicted face and sleepy looks look very convinicing. Then when he speaks - his mouth remains half-closed, as though he's mumbling rather than speaking.

True, true. You may be right about Valve being better at it. Or it might be a combination of that and the fact that Vampires just has so many characters for them to animate.
Am I seeing things or something but I can SWEAR I saw the tremere Bob casting dynmaic shadows in that 4th video.
Yes he does:
@ 1:31 in the 4th vid he casts a shadow to his left.
@ 1: 48/49 he casts a shadow to his right (from the different light source)
WTF...even Vampires have dynamic shadows...why not hl2? ;(
Because it suits a game like vampires better.

Don't forget the budget difference between the 2 games and that Bloodlines will have a lot lot more dialogue than HL2.
