Never played SS2. But damn Deus Ex ranks on the top of my best games list. Deus Ex all the way.

Deus Ex for sure; one of the best games ever made.
Without SS2 Deus Ex would not have come to be the way we know it. Both great games but I'll place my vote with the daddy SS2.

Can't believe SS2 is winning. Deus-Ex gives Half-Life a run for its money - pure brilliance. Can't say thr same about Deus-Ex 2: Invisible War though.

Have you ever played SS2?

Deus Ex. SS2 was brilliant, but the plot and setting were mediocre at best. Deus Ex had the same sort of freedom, but with a great story and setting. Plus it didn't have forever spawning enemies when an alarm went off. :P Overall Deus Ex is the better game.

The best things in Deus Ex were borrowed from SS2 imo.
I much prefered the atmosphere to SS2. Something about the game really grabbed me by the nuts and gave em a twist. The experience was chilling to say the least.
Deus Ex was good - but it didn't really draw me into the game as much. Towards the end it got a little tedious (and the fighting was awful :/)

SS2 for me; I prefer the atmosphere and style of play.

Wouldn't that qualify as a painfull gaming experience?

I couldn't pick one, not because there so different but because they fit in so well side by side. Without them i think my PC would feel lonely... all that thiefing sure is solitary. At least with the many your constantly asked if you want to join for a freindly game of recombinate the DNA and in DX theres always a drink of lime soda to drink even if you wanted orange.
So no i'm not gonna stab one in the back. :p

SS2. I could never get into Deus Ex, I repetetly installed the game deleted it out of disgust, the voice acting was a downright turnoff, thinking I maybe was too harsh, I installed it, then deleted it maybe 8 times? I liked DEx2 much more though I gotta say.
But yeah SS2 over the Deus Ex series for me.

What about the cargo bay with the robots? I ran out of anti-armor bullets and had to climb around the boxes to avoid them. Best atmosphere... ever.

Yes the cargo part was scary as hell. But one part i'll always remember was getting to the top deck on the main ship and seeing a Rumbler stand in front of me.
So i pull my assault rifle and think "No big deal, i'll just kill him quickly". Then the thing takes off so fast its in my face and i'm running backwards firing like mad and just before it's about to claw me i kill it.
Man that scared the shit outta me

Yes I did, never completed it though. I have to admit it was a pretty good game for a low-budget.

oooo what a bastid of a poll ;(
i'd have to vote for SS2, because it's quietly psychotic and brilliant. Deus Ex knows it's a good game. kind of like girls really. would you go for the one who knows she's a beauty, or do you go for the untamed and raw beauty of the girl who doesn't know how brilliant she is? well anyway, aimless fantasies aside, SS2 gets the nod from me.

Okay.
SS2 was intense, well created and all in all one of the the best games ever created. Its scary to boot. Has great use of sound, freaky foes, super plot. However were it falls down for me is spawning badguys, and rapidly degrading weapons (too fast). All in all though ss2 gets 92% in my book. Oh yeah the coop was fun too. However the game wasn't really open in the ways you could play it. Woe betide the dude who tried to finish the game without at least hack 2. Also I found that reguardless of which character class you picked you ended up about the same anyhow.
However Deus Ex is the next level of evolution. Skills, biomods, great mix of weapons (gotta love that gep gun) and you had effects on what happened. You could stop paul dying. You could kill Gunther, or not. It all had repocusions later in the game. The plot is on par with SS2, and it may not be as scary, but its still top class.
DX IW tried to do more but fell to the X-box and over simplifcation. Unified Ammo is not a good idea.
So to sum it up SS2 = great. DX = great but the next step so it gets the nod.

You should complete it. Don't know what you're missing. :)

I thought the respawning enemies wasn't to annoying, I mean a few popped up here and there but I think that added emphasis to the fact that you're not supposed to feel safe, that there are hundereds of these things all over the ships searching for you - bound to be a few turn up in spots.
The weapon degrading I never found to much of a problem either :). I thought it was intense when you'd been to busy shitting your pants to pay notice to the fact your weapon was about to jam. Just as rumbler spot's you. "Weapon Jamed" "ROOOAAAARRRR" ...Shit!.
Good times ;D
