Which game will have the best flash-light?

Playing some FarCry (wasting time before Doom 3 finds itself in my DVD-Rom), and just noticed that the game has a flashlight (there is really no practical use for it, except that is looks good). For those that never played FarCry check the screenshots.

Now it got me wondering. I saw the recent phote of the HL2 flash-light and I saw the flashlight in one of the Doom 3 movies, but I can't really tell the difference (have to see the movie again). Of course Doom 3 needs a much more sophisticated flash-light since it's gonna be dark all the time, so I wondered how the Doom 3 flashlight is superior to the HL2.

I know I'm nit-picking, but I'm curious and curiousity killed the cat.

I agree, Far Cry's flashlight was useless, once you got the CryVision, you didn't use it at all.

But remember, Doom 3's flashlight can be used as a WEAPON ! Major bonus over HL2's flashlight, and Far Cry's one ......

The Doom 3 flashlight that was in that Tech TV movie that G0rgon posted recently looked awesome... you could see the beam and all... :)

Yeah Doom3 has a huge emphasis on the lighting so I imagine the flash light in that game will be the best.

But what really pissed me of about Doom 3 is that no weapon has a flashlight mounted on it. For the love of God, get some ducktape and get creative.

The dynamic light it casts off of it's surroundings is amazing.

You haven't played much FarCry if you think the flashlight is useless. Of course, most games are darker on my computer than others.

Doom 3 wins since it is a weapon as mentioned above.

Buy purchasing a DVD-Drive for £25. Their that cheap.

Doom 3 will NOT be released on dvd its been confirmed.

I agree, the flashlight in doom3 looks to be the best i've seen yet.
although i dont like the idea of it being a weapon. I'd rather be able to use another weapon and still have a flashlight like on the helmet or something. I fear I'll die many times having my flashlight out :O

That's the whole point of it dude. If you had light nonstop and a weapon out simultaneously, you could just charge into any dark area and always be able to see what's coming. It would ruin the atmosphere of the game.

I think Doom III will have the best looking flaslgith, because it's so huge part of the game, or the atmosphere. Id software must have polished it for like the last two years ;)

either stalker or doom3 has the best looking flashlight, but the ugliest would definently be f.e.a.r.... it looks like its just a cirlcle in the hud that makes everything lighter :|

I think farcry's is nice but doom3's is better and like that guy said about it would ruin the atmosphere if you could use a light and gun - it really would come to think of it :p

This screen here http://www.happypenguin.org/images/doom3.jpg is a prime example...you will not believe how frickin terrified i was in that part on the doom3 alpha demo...the demo didnt have a flashlight as such (was console controlled i think) but the back part of that screen next to the bogs (toilets) is where you have to go and its hella scary having seen that big mofo already walked round there. This game will own all your pants. :E
