You can get a DVDR/RW rom for like 70$ and itll serve you as DVD rewriteablem, CD rewriteable, and a CDROM drive hehe. Look for NEC

I dont think that it will only come out on DVD, people need to upgrade, as they are very cheap compared to what they used to be, but I almost gaurantee that hl2 and cs:s will come out on cd-rom.

Most new games are DVD-Rom by default... Far Cry was, Doom 3 will be, I wouldn't be suprised if HL2 followed the trend... HL2 will be about 4gb compressed, and each mod will be lucky to be anywhere under 500mb... to release this on CD-Rom would cost a lot more to produce than DVD (one dvd = about 6/7 CDs)

Just get a DVD drive, they are about £20 ... I got a new sony DVD writer for £50. These things are cheap.
