Just like any other game, it will still exist. If people would rather play old CS instead of CS:S then it'll stay for as long as its wanted.

I imagine there will be more people playing regular CS, at least for the first few months of CS:S being out.

Since CS is so popular partly because of the low system specs, i think there will still be a big "regular" cs community.

well the WON system is going to fade away this summer so if you mean CS 1.5 or lower with 'regular' CS, NO you won't be able to play them. But the latest version of CS (that goes over Steam, version 1.6) will be playable after CS:S comes out

Some people made cs 1.5 and 1.3 steam compatible a little while back.

I sure as hell know I'll be playing the original Counter-Strike, because I sure have one big pile of shiz right here.

So is that how it is going to work? I thought maybe it would work like CZ. Those who get cs:source will have the extras, but those who don't will still have the same old stuff, but its still the same game. So they aren't interchangable then?

Well, seeing that the majority of the CS community is under the age of 15, I'm hoping that none of them will be able to afford CS:S (if it is infact sold separately) and that CS:S will be a more mature and closer-knit community :P

you should prolly stop playing with retards then i play on many a random server and theres hardly anyone who isnt acting somewhat mature. besides youre living in some sort of dream if you think any online community anywhere is gonna be full of people using proper english and passing the ****in grey poupon. cept maybe on one of those gay ass mmorpgs.

I have a feeling a lot of the community will move over to CS:S.

CS players didn't move over to CS: CZ mainly for the fact that they thought it was a rip off to pay full price for something that was obveously not worth it (I'm not saying CZ isn't fun, I'm just saying its not worth paying full price for a game that is just the development of 1.6 - or at least for me it is).

But since CS:S has been confirmed to be included with Half-Life 2, I believe that most of the community will change over as I believe most of the community will be getting Half-Life 2.

confirmed to be included with HL2?

It is not confirmed to be included, but it is confirmed that CS:S will be free to HL2 owners.

And I think a lot of people will still be playing CS 1.6 for the simple fact that there computer is not good enough to run CS:S
