In the new CS:S movie the muzzle flash looks a bit too big dont u think?I didn't notice them being too big, but then again, they have always been much larger compared to real-life.

nothing wrong with the size- i like the way the size deviates on each shot so its not always the same effect. but i did notice a lack of smoke...especially with the AK which should produce alot of smoke and dust particles- but maybe im just being too critical.

yeah but how many maps are in utter darkness? I'd like to see the flash depend on how bright the surroundings are. For example, in combat in day time you might not see much flash, but in dark areas or night maps have much brighter flashes that light up the area.
