Subject: CS:Source
Hi Erik!
I was just wondering if you could answer a quick question I had about
CS:Source?
Basically, are you going to be selling CS:Source separately from HL2 or
will it be free to those with HL2?
Will there be any bot support for CS:Source, and if so, will the bots be
like the Condition Zero bots or have the AI of the HL2 enemies?
Thanks for your time and keep up the brilliant work!
I thought it would be free for sure

Nope. It'll most likely be a small charge (why pay that much more than you do for CS?), and I think it'll be free for owners of both CS and HL2.

It wont be free for the owners of CS...
Why should they get a free game (graphicly, physicly,... updated port) working on the source engine which valve has put all their money and time in?

I have always presumed it will cost something. I mean, why would Valve put their energy into porting this thing over when the community would do it straight away anyway, if they don't make money out of it?

CS + HL2, I said. It's not what they've been pouring money and time into (that's CS2), it's more or less 1.8 in a new engine.

Theyve veen pooring money in the "SOURCE ENGINE"
And btw this is a proof CS Source isnt the real mp of HL2 since they didnt decided if it will be sold with HL2 or not.

If you have HL2, you have a lisence to use Source.

If it comes with the collectors edition, it's fairly safe to assume it won't come with the standard edition.

You can prolly just DL a CS clone for free and get the same experience (since there will be about 1,000,000)

I wonder how much it would cost on Steam. And if it's gonna be available at the same time of HL2's release day.

Money VS Goodwill gesture.
If this was EA we already know we'd have to pay for them. Valve are struggling with their capitalist demons, DON'T GIVE IN!!!

If they slap a 50 dollar price tag on it, i won't be buying it till its down to 20 bucks.

They already said, that the ports will most likely come out at bargain prices. And I dont think people who own HL2 and CS should get it free. If it is going to cost money, and anybody is going to get it for free, it should be people who own CZ. They are the ones who bought it for a grapically updated counter-strike and then a couple months later they anounce CS:souce, and that is better, so they are the ones getting gipped.

you actually thought it would be free? hahahahahah. what do you think steam is for... taking all our $$$ for mods which arent meant to cost anything, thats what.

Oh that's right. I forgot that CS:Source cost nothing to develop.
Valve have said that some mods will have the option to charge for their mods via Steam.

Nah I didn't get gipped. I'm satisfied with CZ it comes with the most advanced bot I have ever had the pleasure of using (No need to download waypoints, ever again :D) and the deleted scenes. Which are the dogs balls.
People who bought CZ were well aware of HL2's imminent completion. I think it was also reasonable for them to expect to be playing whatever the new incarnation of CS was, whether it was going to be CS:Source or just a third-party mod on the source engine. I don't think they got gipped.
With regards to the pricing of CS:Source, deep down, it means nothing to me because I know I would buy everything valve is about to release regardless of its price. Chances are, most of you guys would pay 100 bucks for HL2 + CS2 + (((TF2????!!??!). I know I would.

I wouldn't mind CS:S being free if you own HL2. I wouldn't mind CS:S being cheaper if you own HL2. I wouldn't mind CS:S being free for those with CZ. I wouldn't mind CS:S being cheaper if you own CZ. I wouldn't mind CS:S being free. I wouldn't mind CS:S costing.
Basically, I want CS:S, however I have to get it :)
I never thought it'd be free, though. I still doubt it. Budget price if you own HL2 is what I'm guessing, $20. If you don't own HL2, $40.
Regarding CZ, that's actually become a worthwhile investment. After playing CZ for a couple of months, I try to play CS on the HL2.net server and it makes me sick at how plain and ugly vanilla CS is.
\o/ CZ! \o/
what's the HL2.net server's ip?
Ahhh hell no....theres another tron!NEIN!!!We joined during same month to!
