dood bloodlines iz ugly

i found out it uses halflife two engine not long ago but man its 1 of the most craptaculer looking games coming out. why is it so ugly?? i thought source was supposed to look good or atleast as good as halflife two. will it have physics?? what can u do wit physics in bloodlines?? man i no gameplay matters more but why does it have to be so ugly why cant they make it look atleast as good as halflife two??

is this what all games on teh halflife two engine will look like?? i hope not i thought halflife two engine was better than this. whats going on??

It's an RPG. It is supposed to have a dark look to it. I don't think it will make use of all of Source's technology. No, not all source based games will look like this. This is what Troika wants bloodlines to look like.

Yeah, there are some un-announced games based on Source. They have been announced in that there was a press release saying that a developer and publisher will use Source in an up-coming, un-announced game.

All Valve HL1 games like CS, DoD, Half-Life, and TFC will be ported to source and make use of shaders, physics, etc. They will be out for us to enjoy around the same time as HL2's release, but they will cost money which I will gladly pay.

Yeah, you'll have to pay for ported games because they are using HL2's engine (which means better graphics, physics, DX9.0, shaders, HDR, etc. It'll look great. If I owned Valve, I'd charge for it too. Anyway, who cares about Bloodlines? Vampires are gay. :O

EDIT: Oh and the original CS couldn't have physics because it wasn't built into HL1's engine. They didn't have that kind of technology back then. Physics could work, they just sucked a little.

Bloodlines is a very comercial game and in my opinion they are mainly using the source engine to make more money. Also it does look pritty crappy. But hl2 doesn't look all that better tbh.

For the record, there is no such thing as a commercial game. All games are commercial. Some may advertise more than others, but thats just caused by publisher marketing departments and expected returns.
Bloodlines looks like a decent game and seems to have taken some of the emphasis off of model and texture detail and is instead putting it towards lighting and atmosphere. Plus the clothing is absolutely awesome. :D

It's evident that you like the doom 3 engine better. If you don't want to play a game with "ugly ass graphics" which the source engine can generate, then I suggest you not to buy half-life 2.

The DooM 3 engine is a joke, Carmack thinks that by rendering as many polygon's on screen as possible a good engine is created. DooM 3 has had to even skimp on gameplay elements in order to provide some nice looking indoor enviroments that will lose their shine, quickly.

The difference between ID and VALVe is that VALVe have put the gameplay first. I'm sure VALVe could have gone all out and made an engine to rival that of the DooM 3 engine in terms of looks, but you can bet you wouldn't have Striders, or City 17 battles, or the Combine Citadel eating its way across the city.

You don't have a clue about what your talking about. The doom 3 engine trying to maximize poly's? Heh, that's almost completely opposite of what it does. Why do you think they have low poly models and use normal maps on everything? And about skimping on gameplay, now your just making random stuff up.

Sorry, for the rant, but jeez I get tired of insane game fans who become obsessed with something and hang onto it like a dog with a bone. Either they are convinced "this" engine is going to be fantastic no matter what, or they're convinced that "that" engine is going to suck no matter what. But I aint blind enough to miss the fact that ID have too made an incredible engine capable of incredible stuff and have also made what is looking to be a very fun and damn scary First person shooter. :)
