Trying to decide between this and Riddick. HELP!
Trying to decide between this and Riddick. HELP!
If you want xbox live fun + co-op madness then this is the way too go. Otherwise, if you like stealth and a good 10 hour single player campaign - go for riddick.
Meh, I'm buying this as this has more replay value (FSW). I'll borrow riddick from a friend.

Trying to decide, eh? Well, they are both great games in their own way. I'd go with Full Spectrum Warrior, even though Riddick is great too. I just picked up FSW, and I must say...phew!...fricken awesome. Though I have only played the Riddick demo, I still would say go get FSW.

When I press the right thumbstick, it's just a zoom too. I don't believe they incorporated the Eyeshine in the demo, unfortunately.

I like it a lot, unfortunately I don't have an Xbox, so i'm gonna have to wait for the PC version.

I bought it today because I had quite a bit of store credit to burn. I've played the training and the 1st mission. Apart from the disc problems I've had (the first copy I got was scratched right out of the box and would skip, the one I have right now glitches every so often and I'm using [slightly scratched on one portion- actually gave me dirty disk error once].
First off, this is the first game I've seen that goes all out with swearing and such. Guys actually say f*ck, shit and such (yeah I'm sure plenty of other games have gone all out, but this game it really fits and is entertaining). I think that adds realism to the whole war scene.
In the first level there is already quite a bit of soldier-soldier chat/banter that is quilte interesting and funny. Gameplay for the mandatory tutorials and 1st mission are quite simplistic. Go here, send other squad here, rescue that guy, flank these chumps, and so on.
Seeing as these are just my first impressions, don't take too much stock in what I'm saying right now. I'll post again when I play more of the game (and am not drunk - I was playing sober).
I''ll post again tomorrow with more in-depth info.
Peace.

I just rented it, and I think I'm going to buy it. With this and Riddick, the Xbox is going through a mini-rennaisance.

Is it good? I have the quid but don't know which one to buy - Riddick or FWS?

I'd get Riddick before FSW considering Riddick is one of the best FPShooters I've ever played.

did any of you guys who played it use the code to unlock the army mode, like the mode they actually use to train soldiers with? it adds tons of replay value to the game.
oh, and the code is ha2p1py9tur5tle

I just played both games for several hours.
TCoR is a more accessible game. You can't just jump right in and play with FSW. You have to go through 4 or 5 boring training sessions that don't let you go at a faster than average pace. Both games automatically save at certain points instead of at any point in the level, but TCoR seems to save much more often (so you won't have to backtrack as much).
The controls are also easier to get used to in TCoR because FSW uses a squad-based control method that feels like a third-person RTS. You don't have direct control over your squads. Instead, you give them orders and they execute them mostly on their own. Thankfully, the AI is good enough so that you aren't commanding a squad of retards. That being said, the controls in both games are rather intuitive once you get the hang of it... but TCoR has a faster learning curve.
Graphically, TCoR is superior in almost every way, though it could do with some serious anti-aliasing when playing on an HDTV. The jagged edges are much less noticeable in FSW.
Both games are great in their own right. TCoR is a fast-paced, futuristic, FPS RPG... whereas FSW is a methodical, squad-based, strategy-oriented, third person modern combat game.
What would I do? I would recommend TCoR for renting (it is a relatively short, but sweet, SP experience with below average replay value) and, depending on how the rest of the game turns out, FSW for buying (it has a good SP game, co-op & multiplayer over XBox Live, and you will probably be able to download new levels).
