a while ago i bought a Sapphire Radeon 9600XT 256mb /w Half Life 2 voucher, but as a resident of the UK i was a bit nervous about not being able to find any information regarding shipping ot the UK, etc... for the CD version of the HL2 offer. I searched on ATi's GITG site and even e-mailed them about it but frankly ATi's Customer support is a pile of wanky toss.

anyone know about the delivery charges and all the stuff pertinent to UK residents and the HL2 ATi bundle?

MUCH appreciated,
-Jim

Yes, MadGuy, but was that really the right topic to post the question in?

Anyway, I wonder how it is with Sweden/Europe overall.

I can't find the HL2 redemption page on ATI's website at the moment. Anybody have the link?

EDIT: /ignore me

Wouldn't that make the most sense, if ATI offered to send you just the CD-key and steam does the rest? (suppose you have enough "pipe")

wanky toss.. haha :)

I think you're supposed to use the voucher in the stores...

SMT

Nope, not in-store. Check out the link: http://www.ati.com/online/hl2/

I wonder if any stores will let you redeem it and do the hard work for you, though. Hmm..

I know ATi don't ship their cards out of North America/Canada when bought off their site. Not sure if the HL2 coupon is an exception to this however.

They say on their hl2 site that you can either: download via steam or pay 10$ delivery for international shipping. Your choice. Nifty box but endless waiting for shipping or steam instant joy but no box. This is a real toughy..

ATI would have to pay the stores..

I bought a 9600XT myself and expected a HL2 voucher. Alas no.

There are 2 versions, Lite and Full.

Full gives you Tomb Raider, some software and the voucher. Lite does not.

And this is the same model, same make. Hope that helps.

i'd have to have the boxed version, just to be able to say 'I'm HOLDING HALF LIFE 2!!!' the moment i got it. plus i dont mind the wait, i could always drink some bleach and wake up in a months time ready for delivery!

Jimbones, did you find an actual figure ($10) for shipping, or was it just a guess, cos i have no idea bout it and i didn't see it anywhere!

Hey ComradeBadger, d'you think you could correct the thread title to read "Ati bundle" instead of "Sti bundle?" It's driving me nuts. :)

I dont think they'll ship the box to you. Even though people have been saying this for ages "Oh I'm going to wait and get the box through the mail". I bet it's going to be like an "OEM" version of the game, I.e. a CD paper slip (maybe if you're lucky a jewlcase) and a manual and that's it. I _seriously doubt_ that you're going to get the full blown box.

sorry bout my LAME spelling, as a student i try and torture my brain into study with as much alcohol i can, or at least thats what i tell campus security...

i was afaid it might be OEM, cos thats the most logical outcome, but i suppose its better than nowt. plus a guy can hope...right! :D

Ive sent another email to ATi, but all i expect is for it to be returned covered in laugh spittle (albeit in digital form, ie, automated responses).

i bought a 9600XT aswell but im still in 2 minds about posting the crap off to ati. i mean i WANT the cd rather then just downlaoding it form steam... its just more practical (say if i want to format my PC id eaily be able to re-install it).

i was hoping there would be some stores in the UK willing to trade the vouchers for actual copies of the game... luckily i havent scratched off the scratchy panel, i think ill email Game and find out if theyll be doing anything like that.

the prospect of having an OEM version in a paper sleeve is kinda sad. i basically bought the 9600XT solely for HL2 back in december, as im sure did a lot of otehr people. we deserve a full copy of the game without having to wait.

also, would it be possible to to download the game via steam, AND send off the voucher to canada (assuming i got desperate enough to send it) and recieve a cd?

guise, i dont think it would hurt if you did, i dont rember, but i dont think that you need to send in the scratch card itself, only the scan of it.

If you have bought the Radeon 9600XT just to get HL2 you should read the text before buying it.

Your card is for activation the "locked" Half-Life 2 thingy in steam, as Condition Zero is for me now. When you press the Icon, it will probably give you some choises as;

I already got a CD KEY, let me play now!
I want to buy HL2 with my VISA card

Or something like that..

Now, I will buy a XT card just to get the ultimate HL2 experience, but if HL2 doesn't ship to sweden for one month after the "real" release, I'll use my Voucher card meanwhile. I need the bloody box to my HL shelf :/

So if you want the box, use the voucher meanwhile you're waiting for the Box if it won't release near you in a month orso =) I couldn't be able to sit down with my voucher cd key and know I could be able to play HL2.. But I also love the sound of my CD-ROM when it installs great games.. 8-)

$10 USD = £5.50 (you goto love the strong pound :) )

i think im gonna do what estling suggested.. preload the game on steam and play it while i send off my crap and wait months for it to arrive from canada. cheers!
