View Full Version : VUGames gives teaser image for unnanounced Monolith game
i saw this image and was immediately excited. iv seen two artilces about this game to be announced at e3. both quoted VUGames "This project might be described as The Matrix meets The Ring, an intense close-quarters combat experience with rich atmosphere and an engaging story presented entirely in first person." or something ot that extent.
from the look of the screen shot i wouldnt be surprised if that game was on the source engine.
oh and heres the image:

Neat image that. I wonder what game that'll be, though it looks to be another crappy sci-fi "tactical simulation."
EDIT: What are you talking about?

As for the pic, I fail to see the connection there with the Ring :(
lots of purdy sparks though, which is nice
hard to tell the atmosphere from a screenshot sometimes.

I'm not an expert, but I think that looks more like Far Cry engine. And what the hell is going on with that "BUllets taste like chicken" phrase. Sounds like a Swarzchenegger film from like 1992.

Monolith made SHOGO, which I *LOVE*. I haven't played anything else by them (although I should), and that game looks pretty cool. Although, the sparks are what really add to that image

I keep hoping one day they'll remake Blood in some top of the line engine. kicking zombie heads around was fun then, be even more fun now heh.
:O Bugger me! Now that's the sort of game I like.

i don't think its crytek or source...Monolith has always been making thier own engines.
But its definately not crytek....character models are too high poly

Yah as he said Monolith makes their own engines. Shogo, Nakatomi Plaza, Tron 2.0 have all used an engine made by them. Although this could be in source, the baddies definitely don't look as cool as the Combine in my opinion.
Shogo was a great game, I remember getting it for $20 with my brother when it first came out due to a mistake in pricing. Next week we went there it was $50.00. Although I hate anime I loved Shogo Mobile Armor.

dont be sad, theres nothing wrong with that it looks great. but probably doesnt have palm trees beaches, and sea. :(, it may be a vast improvement upon it AI wise though.. although i dont care. real to life intelligence would probably be boring as hell its far more amusing if its not quite right. also depends on what the publisher is trying to create, as for HL2's realistic feel appeal, im expecting high standards from that departement.

It looks like doom 3 to me. Lower poly, lots of shiny maps :)
However, it does look like the CryEngine too...

Why the sad face, regardless of what you might think of Far Cry, the actual engine powering the game is fantastic.

Maybe it's Quake4! Raven gave the source code of Doom3 engine to Monolith and now they have a conspiracy against id Software! oMG oMg!!1!!!1!1
I don't think it looks like Doom3, too much lights and it looks like crap anyway compared to D3 (or as I prefer it, The Big-D) :)

i really hope it is NOLF 3
Actually it could be Blood 3 because they said the game was billed as "The Matrix meets The Ring"
looks like d3 engine or farcry engine... or maybe its own the polybump/plasticish feel is present so thats my theory
It looks alot like doom 3 or Farcry but not that much imo.

With HL2 & Doom3, this looks totally uninteresting.
