Does steam manage downloads?

If im on steam and im downloading something pretty big and pow all of a sudden i get kicked offline, or i have to turn off my connection for something, will steam stop/pause my download and when i come back start it up again?

yes if you start to Dl somthing and you get disconnected it will start off where it stopped, Always a good thing :)

Thanks thats good to hear... now i guess i don't have any reservations left so i'll donload and see what its all about..
