hi, um... I wanted to email Gabe about this personally but I don't know his email so I am posting it here.

I live in India, and since there is no information about the international release date and packages, I want to know will I get it 'at a store near me' around the same time you guys will or will my country's gaming industry continue to fall!

thanx to anyone who replies in a day!

The game will ship worldwide simultaneously
Even if it doesn't get to India immediately, you could always get it on Steam before you can buy it in stores

Ya they said that they will release it internationally on the same day so as long as they were planning on releasing it in India then you will probably be able to get it at the same time as everyone else.

I thought they'd be releasing it internationally on steam when they released it in the US. I was under the impression the rest of the world would get the boxed versions later...

That's right. Releasing boxed retail versions around the world at the same time would be near impossible :)

Sadly, the taxman still apparently takes his cut.

I've got a friend who just pre-ordered CZ on Steam, and he was charged tax on the purchase.

with the way this type of retailing is heading, if state governments didnt start taxing online sales they would soon lose nearly every source of sales tax revenue except condoms and deoderant.

I buy my condoms on the internet.

You must have a huge bandwidth to download condoms!! Especially if the nature has been generous with you!!

And downloading HL2 worldwide the same day will certainly be an amusing experience!

The game will certainly fit in 2 or 3 CDs that's ~ 2 gig, if the download speed with steam is the same as for the bink videos, i've calculated that i would need maybe two weeks till one month to download it !

It's a shame with a ADSL at 1500 kbs!

I hope they will manage to introduce the same featue as torrent to accelerate the transfer. I've read somewhere that the guy that developped the torrent system has been contacted by Valve to help the steam team.

UT2K4 is 6 CDs, FarCry is 5 -- there's no way HL2 will be 2 or 3 CDs :|

so what I get out of all this hullabaloo is that I should get HL2 within a month of the US Release, right!!

Say, since Im new to Steam, what is it? how do Iget it? is it free?

Ahh the Joys of preloading, if it takes a month perhaps they will start taking pre-orders a month early :)

Since the Bink Vids Valve have added a lot of new bandwidth (that deal with that company which I cant remember) so it should be faster :)

EDIT:
Steam is the platform that valve games run off. It itself is free but you need to buy the Games that it runs :) If u have HL, which I assume you do u can just enter your CD Key into it and it will accept it and convert it to a Steam ID. http://www.steampowered.com
