A quick question about Steam

Hey, got a quick question:
If I download Half-Life or any other game via steam, does the game stays on my HD like a regular game, or is it only playable through Steam?
If I uninstall Steam will the game be gone as well?

Yup, its a special file which only runs through steam, sorry d00d

Hmmm... well, it's free, so I guess it's worth it...
BTW, does anyone know if the version of Half-Life featured in Steam includes the high definitions pack?

It doesn't. Shame, the HD pack rocks, the shotgun in it is excellent, it was worth the cash for Blue Shift just for the new shotgun noise...
